Just traded in on a new toy!!!
It's been a great 2 years (almost) with an awesome ride ('04 SSM TSX w/nav) but the new car itch hit me the other day and I just finished sealing the deal on this beauty:

[IMG][/IMG]
2006 Alabaster Silver Metallic Honda Civic Si with navigation and summer tires. I only got $21,000 in trade for the TSX but what can I say, I'm a moron that fell in love with a hard-to-find car! Out of 30+ Honda dealers I called in Florida, only 3 had a new Si with navigation! This car is so much fun to drive. I haven't had a chance to really wring it out yet due to the break-in period, but it already feels much quicker than the TSX. Anyway, I will miss the Acura but zoom, zoom, zoom!!!(sorry Mazda)

nice but i will sure miss the luxury features in the tsx....but the Si is an awesome looking car from the back. From the side and the front, it looks like a mouse.....but congrats! The new Civic always make me turn my head.

Congrats on the Civic, I like it. You downgraded, but at leasts it's a pretty cool downgrade.

You cant find those anywhere up here. Its spring, people are out on the road, its just won motor trend's car of the year and its wal mart priced.
Civic SI, you cant lose with one. I wanted to test drive one before I bought my Accord but there were none to be found in the Seattle area. Well, there were but they were pre sold!!
For 20-22k new, its a great deal. Enjoy.

He may have downgraded from a monetary standpoint, but he sure didn't from a pure driving standpoint. Nice ride.

Congrads you'll have a blast!
Not to be mean, but this is reality setting in. You went from a entry level luxury sports sedan to a boy racer 2 dr coupe.
Just like if you went from an IS250 to a Scion Tc or a G35 to a Sentra SE-R.

The Civic SI is a great car. They're all gone here in for something like 2 years. I actually really like the Fit too and could see myself trading the TSX for one someday. I can see the heads of some our members exploding already.

rule of thumb, as long as you're happy what does it matter? I saw a black SI today I'd seriously consider it! IMO you can't go wrong with: 1) Honda's track record 2) Fit & Finish and 3) 21,000 (0 miles)

Why would anyone move from a TSX to a Civic?
Oh well, as long as you're happy.

Congrats! I have to admit that even an anti-Civic person like me was even impressed with the new Si.
What mods are planned?
I surely hope those seats are NOT a direct bolt-on for old Civic Hatchbacks! If so, look out.

I've been driving the Si around today and can say for certain that this car is friggin awesome. I knew I'd hear some "but you downgraded" comments but I don't really think I have.
For starters, this is not your daddy's Civic Si (or your older brother's for that matter). It feels JUST like the TSX did in terms of quality, solidity, and tightness. It has a navigation system that is very similar to the Acura's as well as a quality looking and feeling interior with all of the common items (pwr windows, locks, sunroof, etc). Honestly, I'm beginning to consider this more of an S2000-lite than a run-of-the-mill Civic.
The 6-spd tranny is so great I can't even begin to tell you about it here (though I imagine it is pretty similar to the TSX; mine was the 5AT). The most notable thing about the car from the very first time I drove it was the sound. It is by far the sweetest sounding Honda engine I've ever heard (much better than the courser S2000 and the muted NSX) and I haven't even been into VTEC yet! They really nailed the sweet spot in that regard. It is a reworked version of the RSX Type-S K20Z1 but sounds much less boomy and pulls a little harder IMO (my best friend has a Type-S).
The handling is also ridiculous. I took an off-ramp yesterday on the way home from the dealer at a speed I am quite sure would have landed me in the ER in the TSX with nary a squeal from the Michelin Pilot Exaltos. It also corners really flat and the seats (though not leather) are much grippier and do a great job of holding you in place.
The nav screen folds down to access the cd player and, while its not a 6-disc changer, it does read mp3/wma cds and can therefore hold around 250 songs. There is also a pc card for music as well as an input jack for an mp3 player. I do miss the trip computer option in the nav system but the calculator and calendar are still there as well as an avg MPG/outside temp indicator under the tachometer. It also has XM radio which was not available on my 2004 TSX and an updated nav software with more accurate POI's and maps.
Sure the styling is not everyone's cup of tea, but it sure gets noticed around town and I think it looks incredible, especially in person. The standard 17" wheels are some of the best factory Honda pieces I have ever seen and the extreme "cab-forward" stance is aggressive and original. I also LOVE the split dash with the speedo up high just under your line of sight. Think of it as a poor man's heads up display. I'm also really looking forward to that 8000 rpm redline (limiter doesn't cut in until 8500!!!). Just a couple hundred more miles to go.
To sum up, I really LOVE this car. It is a bit small, though I fit in it just fine. I do have another vehicle ('97 Expedition) so the Civic is more of a "fun" vehicle for me to cut loose in when I don't have to haul people or stuff around. It lacks some of the luxury features of the TSX, namely the HID's, but more than makes up for it with an awesome engine, great handling, and original, aggressive styling.
I took some new pics today:

The door handles feel like happy meal quality plastic, and the cloth on the seats are absolutely tragic.
Maybe I've been spoiled by the TSX.
If the Si shifter/clutch combo is anything like the TSX's, there's your consolation
I'm sure it handles better than the TSX. TSX suffers from having to carry around more weight, and a floatier ride.

Congrats on the Si. I love the car, personally. Love the exterior, love the interior (sat in one just for fun a couple days ago, didn't drive it but revved it), love the instrument layout, and LOVE how it sounds. I'm sure if I were 20-some instead of nearly 40 w/ kids, I'd be driving one right now.
Don't let anybody tell you that you downgraded -- you "side-graded" to a Honda product that suits you better than your TSX. Cheers to that! (Plus, I'm envious of your much better-matched gear ratios 1-5. That 1-2 drop in my TSX is driving me nuts.)

actually, the Si got different seats the the other civic models, with much better interior and cloth
what makes the Si more fun is that its a coupe, had the TSX been a coupe, it would have been frickin nuts

How much did you get them for? My local dealer wanted $3-7k above MSRP for these babies. Those a-hole marked it up like crazy and the sad thing is... someone still paid for it....

Its no acura.. its a civic.... can't expect luxury on them.... but performance wise.. I would be happy with it..... but with the mark up.. its no longer worth it.

WOW!!! Can't believe you had to pay a mark up on your deal.
I placed an order 1 month ago, gave a $500 deposit, and am only paying sticker. Granted I have to wait, but all should be well in late June, early July. It's ordered, now I am just waiting on a build date. I think it should make for a fun daily driver.
Now if I can only get rid of my 4Runner, I might slide back into a TSX.

Yeah, if I'd have just waited a little while I could have easily saved a few grand but I just wanted the car NOW!! Lol.

Yep, we test drove the Si before buying our TSX. It was fun, sporty and sounded awesome. Went home and thought about it, do I want a boy racer car (had a '99 Si) or do I want a sport/luxery car?
Well, you can see what car we chose - The one that WAS best for us.
Congrad's though - If I was 20 something, I am sure I would have chose the Si, but 3K over sticker - YIKES, I could have bought either Fiji Blue or Galaxy Gray at MSRP the day we test drove, it helps when you know the new car sales manager.

Yeah I would not pay markup on ANY vehicle. Especially a civic come on now! A civic SI may be rare now but in a few months they are going to be everywhere! Cant believe someone would pay markup on a civic.
I would of gotten the 2006 Acura Type S instead for $22k instead of paying the markup.
