Just test drove the TSX

Nogard13....just a note that for more than one person on here, the seat position in the TSX takes some time to get right, but when you do find the sweet spot, you're good to go! I have an '04 with no memory seats, so I get annoyed when someone moves my seat, but the newer years have memory seats so that's not a problem.
I've done some long trips in my TSX and the seats have been very comfortable for me. I don't get out feeling stiff or hurting at all as I did with my previous cars.

My next door neighbour builds Toyota and Lexus cars. (We have a Toyota plant near where I live.)
He says Lexus has extremely high standards and is exceedingly perfectionist. He says it's 10 times harder to meet expectations for the Lexus cars than the Toyota ones.

After seeing the business card thing at the dealer today, I believe it. He actually told me that we could walk over to another IS250 and the gaps would match the marks on the business card. I chose not to walk all the way across the lot just to see that but I bet it's true.

Equal measure of bhp/ton, and the bike still walks it due to cornering capabilities, lighter masses to move.
When you invent your twisty, track-eating car, give me a shout - I'll be more than happy to eat my shorts once I've blown every other bike out there.

The theme of the video is (in jeremy clarksons words): the cream of roadgoing bicycles vs. the porsche carrera4, which is nowhere near the cream of roadgoing cars.

Well, you've got an exciting choice to make. Or maybe some more cars to test drive?

Read some of the comments posted below the video - very apt most of them.

Why test drive a IS250 which costs more than a G35 or a TL? Why not drive the TL. It has more power to statisfy your needs. The IS250 is slower than the older IS300, it is also very small, possibly smaller than the TSX. Very overpriced as well.

Interior:
First thing I noticed where how hard the seats felt. They were comfortable at that moment but I don't know if a long road trip would make my back hurt. The seats in my 02 Honda Civic actually felt more comfortable. The visibility was good, however, and the sliding center console gets mad props.
I liked the fit and finish inside, too. Everything felt like it was just where I would want it to be if I were driving and reached over to do something. The handsfree wasn't really all that intuitive as I tried to pair my phone to test it out and never figured it out. The navi, tho, was pretty cool. I must say, if I do purchase a new car (or, better yet, when I do), I'm definitely getting the nav package.
I did have a problem with the door locks. They interfered with my arm placement when the windows where rolled down. I guess I could get used to that, tho.
Performance:
The engine felt like it had enough power while driving around town but didn't really have the pick-up I expected on the highway. I guess it just needs a bit more torque. I was driving at 70 MPH and I tried to pass some SUV driving besides me. My Scion tC actually feels stronger in this department (and it's at 3200 RPM compared to about 2600 RPM for the TSX so that might have something to do with it, too). I didn't feel like downshifting with the auto since I won't be doing that on a normal basis when I get my car. I fear that uphill roads at highway speeds might be a problem.
Overall:
Overall, I would have to give the TSX an 8.5 out of 10. I was really expecting more power from a 205 hp engine, even if it is an auto. I hear the manual feels peppier but I really want an automatic for my next vehicle. I've been driving a stick for 17 years now and I'm really growing tired of it. Anywho, the steering wheel seemed a bit cluttered and I ended up hitting the voice recognition button several times on accident (I like to drive with my hand in that hole) so I would've preferred it be in another location.
One thing that this test drive did do was help me to appreciate my tC all that much more. I really wanted to upgrade her but now I see that she's really a bargain at half the price of the TSX or IS250, especially when I would rate my tC about an 8.5 as well. I do think I'd be happy with a TSX but it wasn't love at first drive like my Civic was (neither was the Scion, tho). I fell in love with my Civic immediately and still miss it. I like my tC but I don't love it. I'm looking for that love feeling again and thought Acura would provide it with the TSX.
Now it's time to go test drive the IS250. Maybe I'll do that next weekend.

I started looking at the IS250 just to compare the TSX to something else but I don't think I want to pay $35K for the IS250 with Navi when I can get the TL for that price.

You need to check out the G35 before making a final decision. Drive the new 07 G35. It's around the same price as the TL, but has everything to offer the IS350 does and more.

I was actually trying to stay under the 30K mark, tho. That's why I was looking at the TSX and the IS250 (they say starts at $30K but it would cost $36K the way I want it). I think I've narrowed it down to the TSX for now.
I'm not buying until August timeframe, tho, so I'm going to wait and see what the new Accord is going to look like (maybe even the TL redesign if it's really pimp).

The Accord will be all new this fall but the TL just went through a refresh so you can an expect an all new TL for 09. (Fall 08 debut) Probably slighlty sooner for the TSX. Again an 09 model.

2010 TL SH-AWD
07' IS250's were selling at or below invoice before the new year. Im not too sure about now. Every Lexus dealers had tons of 250's on the lot for the december to remember sales event. Loaded 250's with navi were selling at $32k or better.

In 03 they released the Type-S and then all new for 04. Eh. I was hoping for an all-new TSX in 08 but I won't hold my breath.
I don't thibnk there is any set pattern to when a new TL is introduced vs a new Accord. But you can be sure that a car that was refeshed like the 07 TL was will stick around for at least 2 model years. (07 and 08)
And the Type S was released earlier than 03. I think it was a model year 02 release.

Anywho, if I get the TSX I'm hoping to get employee pricing from my best friend's sister who works for Acura.

The A pillar, and the view out the backseat windows when I was changing lanes.
I think it may have something to do with the fact that I'm a short female who has always driven cars with big panes of expansive glass. It didn't bother my husband very much.
I don't regret my decision, but it still kinda pains me when I see a Civic Coupe (because I gave her up... snif, snif ).

I didn't mean I wanted to get the IS250 under 30K but that I didn't want to spend more than 30K when I started looking. I know the IS will cost me at least $33 out the door, if I can get 4K off MSRP (fat chance in this area).
I know the G35 is about the same price as the IS250 but it has a much better engine. I don't know how well it does on luxury, tho. I'm thinking of giving it a test drive and see.

I kinda regret not test driving the Legacy GT... until I go to the gas pump. 28 MPG on the TSX! Whoo! Our other car is a Subie, and it's a bit of a gas hog. Might be worth it if you want to go fast...

Main reason it dropped off my list. The test cars rattled. I had heard they had rattling problems, and then I heard it on both Subies I test drove. (the other was the Outback).
Plus, it didn't seem like a car that price (it's $49,500 for the automatic in Ontario, Canada, taxes in). Looked and felt a notch cheaper inside.
Still, you should test drive it. It's a worthy competitor. (and hopefully, its price is less ridiculous than in Canada......)

I really do like many of the feature of TSX as I like them on my Accord. I really like the gauge and having 4 door, hid.
Only things I did not like about TSXs were the power and the price. Although they begin 'at similar price, 28k, its harder to talk down TSX since it's acura.
I got my accord drive out at 25500 and I could not be happier.
If 4 door isn't your concern, try test driving an accord v6 coupe. They have pretty much same interior, but more power. Both have pros and cons. I am somewhat debating if i want to trade it in. I do like the look of TSX and the 4 door. But power and look of my accord (full oe kit and lowered) definately makes it hard to let it go.,

Over here in Australia, the Legacy GT is over $9000 more expensive compared to our equivalent to the TSX. My friend just got a LGT though, and it pulls about the same as the TSX when it is under 3000rpm. When it is above 3000rpm, the LGT's 2nd gear pulls as hard as the TSX's 1st gear.

I'm willing to bet that the TSX has better performance numbers than 75-80% of the cars out there. Yeah, you want better, spend at least $5-10k more (again just guessing based on my experiences). To get this performance from this car with all the amenities at this price point, I think you'll have a hard time coming close. You want an adrenaline rush, get a bike and find out what it's all about. Otherwise, enjoy it for what it is or spend a lot more for the gains. But don't knock this car for that reason. It has a lot going for it!!!! 'Nuf said.

Then you'll see it's the corners where the bike loses all the ground it gains in the straights.
