People that make comments like this have no clue. There's so much more to a car than horsepower. The TSX might not be lightning fast, but find another car in its class thats fast AND handles well AND is comfortable AND has all the creature comforts in it AND has impressive technology AND is reliable AND fuel efficient AND green . . . . NO ONE comes close.

And the great thing about the TSX's awesome handling, is that you can enjoy it at lesser speeds because its such a hoot to drive. Even just doing a U-ey in a parking lot or charging up a 45mph twisty road. You'll use the TSX's handling everytime you get in the car. You'll use brute horsepower how often?? Yes - I want enough power to be able to pass safely and hustle out of harm's way when appropriate, but the TSX doesn't need it. Well maybe an extra 20

As for the "its a Euro Accord" comment that started the thread, that's not a bad thing to be associated with. Actually my comeback would have been,"That's fine with me considering the Accord is up there as one of the most succesful and versatile platforms in automotive history." Who's been on the Car Driver 10 best list more? Um, no one. Who's been a consistent best seller (NOT including rental fleet sales cough Camry and Ford cough ballot box stuffing cough). Who has leading technology built into it? (Keep in mind the JDM market Inspire has everything from Honda's Accident Mitgation System to smart key cars to VCM to laser guided cruise control not to mention a prototype that was outfitted with SH-AWD). Honda was lean and green before it wa a federal regulation.

OK - I'm off my soap box now. People are just stupid.

Most people who start a sentence with "It's only a..." generally don't really know what they're talking about anyway. You know, a little knowledge can be dangerous. Anyway, the association with "Accord" name is just fine with me. I drove an Accord for 12 yrs before the TSX, they're terrific cars, one of the all-time great automobiles (just ask Car and Driver). I've always considered the TSX to be the Accord that Honda wouldn't sell me. The looks of the '03+ Accord were a big disappointment and Honda won't sell the 4-dr Accord with a 6MT. The TSX fits the bill nicely, it's a little smaller and sportier than the current Accord, way better looking and it has that all important shifty-stick.

I'm in Australia with an Accord Euro. And I have to say I just love your TSX's instrument panel. It's so nice compared to what we get here. Even the regular Accord (Inspire) over here gets the same instrument panel as the Accord Euro.
Plus, the TSX has a bit more power than the Accord Euro (200hp vs 187hp), stiffer suspension and every TSX has leather, heated seats, HIDs, foglights, sunroof, rain-sensing wipers and all the other goodies. Here, we have to pay an extra US$5500 to get those options. My base model already costs US$27110 and comes with only cloth seats and none of the above luxuries! And we don't even have the option of Sat-nav!!! So don't care what they say, the TSX may look like the Accord Euro and share the same chassis, but you guys over the ocean get heaps of extras both in terms of luxury and performance!

Actually, foglights are an option, and rain-sensing-wipers aren't available here, not even as an option.

Ahhh, I see. Over here the foglights only come with the up-spec model, and we also don't get the strut tower brace on any of the Accord Euro models. I've seen the TSX with a thin strut brace.

So, in this case... a response could resemble:

You're darned right it's based on the Honda Accord. I happen to like Honda Accords a lot -- but the American version is too big and bulky for me (i.e., like an Avalon? ) and I wanted a bit more scoot, so I went with the European spec of the Honda Accord. Fits me like a glove. A great Sports Sedan. It may be too small and nimble for your tastes, but do you want to give it a spin? Oh, and you know what else? I get an Acura warranty and service, and resale value with this Honda Accord! For the money I paid, I'm pretty psyched about it. Thanks for taking an interest. Sure you don't want to take it for a spin? Your Avalon is really nice by the way. Very plush and big. Good choice -- Toyota makes great quality cars.

Right On!!! I couldn't have said it any better myself!

If people want to get "technical"... the TL and the RL are accords too. But dammit, I love my "accord".

I don't care what those ignorant people would say about my TSX being a Euro Accord. I would tell them that they have no clue on what they are talking about. I would probably tell them all the good things about my car and hopefully make them feel stupid as to the TSX is just only a Euro Accord. I came from a 6th gen Accord myself before buying my TSX and it does have a way better interior, exterior, luxury goodies that you would normally would pay an extra $4,000-$6,000 in another comparable car manufacturer. I think this is what Honda really wanted to make as their best "Accord", with all the goods from the Inspire, Accord Euro to make the TSX. IMO this is the best "Accord" that Honda has made to date, and am very proud of owning one!
