A Jeep Liberty was on my ass today

On the way home, a guy in a Jeep Liberty was following me. It was brand new and I guess he was trying to show it off or something. This guy thought he could keep up with the TSX. LOL An EL would smoke his ass. Anyways....everytime I accelerate and coast, he would eventually catch up (DUH). The funny thing was he had this grin on his face that screamed "my Liberty can keep up with your TSX" and stared me down. So....long story short, I showed this MOFO what the TSX is capable of. Man, this car can turn!

Jeep Liberty is a chick "car" IMO. Too curvy to be masculine like the other Jeeps.

Liberties definitely aren't "Real" Jeeps. IFS on a supposedly true offroad vehicle? No way! :sqntfawk:

I'll still always love my TJ... but it'll be replaced in a week with a TSX!

Well the guy who followed me today looked about 50 y/o and was driving a bright red Liberty. Maybe he's going through midlife crisis.

Car and Driver reports the Liberty does 0-60 in 8.8 seconds and generates 0.72g on a skidpad vs. the TSX's 7.2 seconds and 0.85g.

So, daya think that in a race Michael Schumacher, driving a Jeep Liberty, could beat TSX7 driving an Acura TSX?

I was in the right lane and he just kept on following. I had quite a few people just follow me around to check out the car (usually teens in riced out honda civics). Hopefully I'll run into that guy in the Liberty again except this time I'll be on his ass.

Amen to that brother, let his old ass pass you and keep on cruising in your TSX. Any kind of confrontation on the road is not worth it in a new car. I learned that lesson the hard way a few years ago in Seattle when a jackass was driving erratically in front of me in an Accord and would not let me pass. When he finally moved into the turn lane, i threw a cup of Starbucks coffee at his windshield. He started chasing me from there and we drove about 5 miles through the city yelling and screaming at each other until i finally calmed down and lost the guy. It was not one of my finest hours and thankfully it did not end in any bloodshed or damage to either cars. Now, if there is a jackass on the road (when isn't there one???) i just get away from them and keep on eating up the miles in my TSX.

Man, I can't believe you did that! If someone did that to me, I would never quit chasing them down and probably end up behind bars (I know I have a bad temper). You're lucky you got away!

Like i said man, not one of my finest hours and I've vowed to never let something like that happen again. Both of us were lucky that the situation did not esclalate further and that there was not a cop around.

It's funny how the perspective of someone is very different from another one...

I own a Liberty 2003 V6. Below are a few points I like and dislike from the Liberty.

The good points:

- Real Torque
- Capable off reader (I would love to see a CRV or a Rav or a tribute following me)
- Snow king!
- Super smooth 4speed auto transmission (the 5 speed manual sucks IMHO)
- Ok road abilities
- RWD and part time AWD
- Did I say Torque :-D
- Lots of head room
- Zero rattles
- Nice engine sound
- Towing capacity
- Braking distance average but the rotors don't warp easily and little brake fade...

To Bad points:

- Gas consumption
- Plasticky interior
- Very average seats
- Pedals are a bit offset on the left
- Ok road abilities
- rough ride on uneven surfaces

Overall I think it's a great little truck... It's not based on a car platform so the road abilities are not as good as the competition...

One more thing, I never had any problems with it since I got it almost 2 years ago...

Regards
