Its there such thing as laser detector?

The place where I live, often uses laser or camera (those which calculates the time you appear on the screen and disappear to see if youre speeding).
Well i know theres nothing we can do with camera types, but what about laser? And how eficient are those things.....

Laser dectors do in fact work. The apeture of a laser compaired to radar is much smaller. Also, virtually all lasers are only broadcasting a detectable signal when they are clocking someone.

I use the laser dection as signal for me to get my license and registration ready.

as far as accuracy is concerned I have heard (don't take it as the gospel) that they are less accurate than radar. The color of you car, sunny day, and headlights on can all contribute to a false reading.

I was driving my SSM on I-75 with the headlights on. I was doing about 85 and started to slow down b/c I was approaching a spot the troopers frequent. Also, the wife was giving me warning about the spot and watched the spedo drop.

There was a black Audi to my right, in the middle lane, and he was passing me slowly since I applied the brake.

The Laser dector started to scream like mad & I hit the brakes and brought it down to 74. I saw him hop in his car and give chase. He pulled me over and wrote me a ticket for 97mph in a 70. I was livid but tried to keep my cool and tell him that it just wasn't possible. He was nice enough to show me the reading on his gun. The distance that "I" was clocked at seemed a bit too close considering when the detector alarmed.

He said "This is a new car and it looks kinda fast. Maybe you're just not used to it?" I laughed inside b/c I had it for over a year (since Jul 03) and I WAS going 97mph about 20 miles early (no other cars were around).

In my opinion the fact that I drove a reflectively colored car on a sunny Florida day with my HID lights on all contributed to his false reading.

Yes, there are laser detectors. One thing you must know about laser, it's line of site. In other words, if your detector is detecting a laser, they already have you. I got nabbed by a hand held laser myself. Not much you can do about it.......
