IPOD/ AUX Input

okay, well i cant seem to find a thread to ressurect so i guess ill make a new one here.

it seems that dension has came out with a new connecter for the ipod? is that the one i want? Is there another brand that works similarly? Does dension allow for me to buy a cord to plug in red n white rca cables so if in the future i decide to get rid of the ipod i can connect another music source?

what about mounting options? did any one buy that adapter? did any one make something on thier own?

thanks alot guys.
i plan to order this stuff tonight so i can get it installed b4 i get off spring break.

Don't know if there's a solution for 2005 (XM) + NAV.

Your best bet if you want to have RCA inputs is to go with a Soundgate SNHOND3 or Blitzsafe adapter. Details for the installation of the SNHOND3 unit can be found in the link posted by bryhogan above. The same instructions would go for the Blitzsafe unit also. The unit that Denison sells, from my understanding, is a SNHOND3 unit for the RCA inputs and their unit which allows you to use the steering wheel controls to go through playlists.

My set up is just the SNHOND3 adapter and Belkin Auto Kit to keep my iPod charged while I drive. I just use the iPod controls to flip through the songs or just set it to shuffle. But its basically the same as Schalliol's set-up which can found in the link above.

Bought mine (ICELink) from Dension in Dec. 2004 for my non-Nav 2004 TSX. Works great.

Perhaps they are releasing a version with the cable already spliced for use in a TSX/Accord with nav system? Either way, you should be able to purchase the version on the site now (listed for the 2004 TSX) and make your own harness (assuming you have a nav system).

I just bit the bullet and ordered an IceLink. However, I think I will sell the SNHOND adapter (check the black market board in a week or so!) that comes with it and buy one of the premade cables, since I don't have access to any soldering tools here and the cost of doing it myself would be greater than just buying another.

I already have the SNHOND3, which connects to a Belkin auto adapter, so my iPod stays charged. If I add an ICELink to the SNHOND3 (as I read in the FAQ thread) I assume I won't need the Belkin adapter, since the ICELink connects directly to the iPod.

Does the ICELink provide charging as well as the ability to use the steering wheel controls?

I picked up a Sony-iPod ICELINK on ebay and hooked it up to my SNHOND adapter, and the audio worked fine, but none of the controls on the steering wheel or radio panel seemed to affect the iPod operation.

The Dension ICELINK model is "3GS5 for iPod 3G"
The SNHOND model number is "SNHON01200"

Does anyone know why this isn't working? Thanks.

I think us with the 2005 XM/AUX are screwed. I don't see how I'll be able to hard wire the Ipod with out sacraficing XM.

If you purchased this unit, it should work. You may need to call Dension to make sure you have all the correct parts, etc.

So I am a little confused about this. I have the 2005, with Nav, and XM, but I am NOT going to renew the XM. If I don't need the XM, is there ANY problem hooking up an IPod AND having the wheel mounted controlls operate the unit? If this is OK, what products do I need? Icelink, etc..? Does this installation viod any part of my warranty (cutting into the wiring harness, etc.)? Thanks.

If you are ok with losing the XM, it is fairly easy to install the IceLink. In fact, in a few weeks, Dension (the makers of the IceLink) is supposedly releasing a new version for the TSX that will completely eliminate 75% of the work needed to use the IceLink with nav, thus making the install 100% plug and play.

Yippee! In truth, I have not been very impressed with the sound quality or selection of XM. Not that FM is better, just that I can't see paying for XM, and still listening to someone else's chioce of music, when for the same $ as a several year subscription to XM, I can get an IPod and adapter and pick all the tunes myself. OK, now I am a confessed control freak.... Any support groups?

I've had the Dension ICE-Link in my '05 TSX 6MT non-nav for about 8 months now and could not be happier with the sound quality and flexibility. It is extremely easy to install, and you have the ability to update the system. So, if they find a way to display the ID3 tag, then you can update the software. (However, from my conversations with Dension, I don't know that this is likely to happen). Nonetheless, with it you can use the both the stearing wheel and dashboard controls, it charges your iPod (up to 2 hours after turning off your car) and you have the option of using their interface or the iPod interface.

While it is a pricy unit at almost 200 bucks, I think it is well worth the up-front cost to get the outstanding sound quality, variety of integrated controls, and ease of instalation.

While I'm happy with the iPod, I would like to be able to hook up my XM once again, and remain on the hunt for a Y-connector/switch that will allow me to use them both. So far my search has lead me to a Y-connector without a switch (P/N 08A31-0F1-000). I haven't been able to find a definative link or discussion about this piece in all the XM/iPod forums, so if anyone has any input, I'd much appreciate it.

USA SPEC PA11. w/ y-cable if you have navi. You'll get XM + RCA aux inputs + iPod charging / control cable so you'll have steering wheel controls like with the Dension. It also allows direct iPod control (which I prefer over steering wheel controls).

Check out the A/V section, we've been discussing this unit recently. I have one on order to check out how it works with the 2006s.

I ordered the USA SPEC PA11H2Y for my '05 6mt non-navi from Crutchfield on Monday and it was waiting for me at my door after work today, just 2 days later. Had it working within minutes, although I uninstalled every thing to buy a RCA-to-3.5mm cable and drill a hole through the back of the tray. It's great, RCA output, ipod dock connector, and you can still use XM if you want.

Once you remove the console above the "not an ashtray" console, just use a mirror and a flashlight to find it. It's behind the radio, a bit to the passenger side from the middle, IIRC.
