Installing a remote starter

My mom purchased an '04 TSX A5, currently has 85k on the clock (bought it from me, i got it with 40k). The only complaint that she has is that it lacks a remote starter, making that the perfect xmas present. I have never installed one, however am pretty well versed in automotive modifications. What does it take in these cars? I searched a bit and haven't really found any install info/how too's. Also, a recommendation as to which one would be best would be awesome, I only have around $150 to spend, lost my job, and modding my GTO are a bad combination
thanks guys

Installing remote start is similiar to installing an aftermarket alarm system, but requires more work. Once you get the remote start system, there should be a wiring diagram of the brain/control module that tells you what each wire is used for. Those wires are then connected to the car's corresponding location of where each components are located. A diagram of the vechicle's alarm/remote start electrical wiring is very useful. If you are not familiar with the process, I would not recommend doing this. A decent remote start system should not be much, but it's the installation that will be costly.

You guys are allot more motivated (or more stupid) than I am. I'm not fan to begin with (remote start? only in America......), but if I was.... it wouldn't occur to me to do this myself (and I've been working on cars for longer than you guys have been around). Just take it somewhere and have it done. It can't cost much more, and you'll have someplace to bring it back to when it starts to not start, and/or start on it's own.

^ That's what I was trying to say, take it somewhere to get it installed if you don't have any idea of how to do it. I don't have one and don't plan on getting one, but have installed many of these for people in the past.

Take it to someone to have it installed. You don't want to screw up the wiring under the dash, and there are a lot of wires.
To have one installed should cost about $250-350.

We had one installed in our tsx and the wife loves it. We had one in our integra and es300 since they sat outside in the winter.

If that was true you should know that installing a remote car starter isn't rocket science. It's not that hard, it's just time consuming. the12volt.com gives you the location and all the wire colors needed to complete the job.

This guy reminds me of a saleman at Home Depot telling some woman how easy it is to replace your hot water heater. With all the electronics in new cars, there's no part of this job that I would want to do myself. Call me lazy, call me uninterested, call me someone with more money than brains..... don't care. For a few more bucks, this decision is a no brainer. I stand by my original opinion.

Congrats. Did you have it done at a local shop or Big Box store? Did you get the kit from them or online?
