Drove to Dallas this weekend from Katy, TX (west of Houston). Prior to leaving I changed my oil to Castrol Syntech & dropped in a K&N panel filter - my gas mileage went from 28 mpg to 32+ mpg. This was combo highway & city driving.

 

I'm getting a constant 23. it's pissing me off.

 

Acccording to the Navi trip computer Im getting 25.8 mpg.
When I did my own calculations I came up w/ 24.1 mpg.

I'll get the next 3-4 fillups and average them.

How are people getting 28 mpg+ I have a stick, so maybe I should shift at 3k all the time now.

 

I'm averaging 25-26 in city. To get 28+ it has to be all highway miles.

 

I must admit I am a docile 6MT driver - 3-4K shifts most of the time. I was just amazed at the jump in MPG by using synthetic oil & a K&N panel filter.

 

if a K&N filter improves milage. how do CAI effect, worse is driving harder i know, but on an average day?
