First sell then buy. But don't be in a hurry to sell and let it go for less that it's worth. Also check to see how much the dealership would value it as a trade in. The tax benefit might make up for the lower than average price they'll give you. I suggest going to a dealership and pretend you're very serious about buying. Then see how good a price you can get for a trade-in.

I see, but if I sell it first, I can't trade it in...I mean if I sell it, I would need that money to apply towards paying back my uncle, and I would not be able to pay towards a trade-in for the tsx...the only way I could consider trade in is if I don't sell the car now...keep it...pay it off...then 2 years down trade it.

unless I am not understanding your point

Nah, I think you said you have the GXE. It has the 1.8L, 126hp. The SE model has the 2.0L and the Spec-V has the 2.5L.

Correct, which is why I said I don't have the spec-v in the GXE...

I'm a little confused with option C. You're gonna keep the Nissan AND buy a used car?

Go with B, it'll give you more money while you're in school and show respect to your very generous uncle.

All good things come to those who wait. I'm 32, BSME & an MBA and I'm just now treating myself to a TSX. School comes 1st.

Good Luck!

Well you might be able to use the trade-in as a down payment. Assuming you have 10 grand saved up already (money that you have saved for a down payment) you can pay back your uncle with that 10 grand. It all depends on the net price of the vehicle methinks.

Interesting!

...but assuming I have 10grand save up right now I can use that as the down for a car...vs. if I trade-in..the value would be much lower than 10K (assuming no extra down)

But you cant have a Spec-V in a GXE. The Spec-V is a model of the B15 like the GXE, SE, SE-R, or Spec-V.

In this day and age, the MBA is probably worth the time, if you can squeeze it out pretty quick.
