I want to install a JL audio sub - help!
I am an audio nut and I installed my own system in my Jeep Liberty. Nice Alpine mono amp, clarion head unit and JL audio sub in box.
I want to move the JL sub over to my new TSX, but I'm not sure how to add it on the the existing stereo. I can wire things when I add the whole system, but adding it on to the factory stereo is something new. Should I just use the signal going to one of the 6"x9"s on the rear deck ?
I dont want to do this - anyone have any ideas, I could use the help ?

There's nothing really wrong with using a line level adapter from the 6x9s but you may be able to hijack the signal in between the head unit and the amp. This thread started out on the subject but quickly got threadjacked: http://www.acura-tsx.com/forums/show...&threadid=7483

Yeah you're right, that thread went off on a tangent. Didn't help me out too much. I am assuming that the stock stereo doesnt have any unfilled preamp outputs, because I have never seen a stock stereo that had them available. I still want 8 speakers + the sub as well.

The line adapter is the easiest solution and you'll probably be satisfied with it. I'd go that route first and if you aren't happy you can try something else out.

It's a little box that takes some of the line level signal to the 6x9s and reduces it down to around 5v for your amp. It's not as good as a direct connection to the headunit but its pretty good. I wouldn't wory about it much because the signal is going to a sub. You probably won't be able to notice any noise.

I just had my sub installed with an Alpine MRP-M350 mono amp and the installers just spliced into the rear 6x9 speakers. The amp has speaker level inputs so it was possible. If your amp has speaker level inputs, that's probably the easiest way to do it.

JL Audio's Slash series amps are really nice.
You can splice a line level input directly into an RCA adapter and plug it into the inputs.
The AMP has a switch for line level, and in line level mode you won't need a remote switch lead either.
