I think someone tried to break into my TSX tonight.
I now have some nice big scratches on the driver's door near the window.
Looks just about right for a "slim jim"
The alarm was still on and the car was still locked.
*sigh*.

Sucks. I think I'd prefer a broken window, so long as I had the cash for a repair-- you'd have to replace a broken window, unlike scratches, but it's cheaper to replace a broken window than a door panel to get your TSX back to pristine appearance. (I'm assuming you can't just do something simple to hide the scratches.)
Did you have anything of value in view? I always make sure any CD cases, packages, etc. are out of view.

I am so sorry that this has happened... my salesrep informed me that the stock alarm was "not too sensitive"...
In my old car, I had a Viper after market alarm - wow, was that thing sensitive or what? Even if you pushed on the car with some force, it will send off warning signals! Maybe that's what we need...

After this, I might spend a few bucks for an upgraded alarm system.

bummer. what a drag.. hope you can get it fixed-up without too much expense or heart-ache.
Question to all: Is this likely a random theft attempt? Or are we starting to see a clear pattern of TSX thefts due to some demand for the engine, HIDs or something else?
I know there have been threads along those lines but I think that was some time ago, and maybe with a couple more months of TSX existance, we can start drawing some more accurate conclusions.

Just be careful what you get, you don't want an alarm that's too sensitive. I know every time we have a thunderstorm, my neighbor's car's alarm goes off every time there's thunder. Very annoying.

In all seriousness, it'll probably cost $150-$200 to fix (guess). They will have to fill, touch-up and blend. I'll try to take some before and after pictures.
Honestly I don't know. My car is the nicest looking one on my side street.
