If you live in an urban environment, the oily dust in the air really attacks the rubber, and replacing the blades every three months, as ishnreddy suggests, is not a bad idea.

If you're running your car through a commercial carwash, you're ending up with some level of soap/wax residue on your windshield, and that craps up the blades a lot, because the wax collects on the rubber and that creates part of the streaking problem.

Killer's suggestion of windex works too, I can get a few months of additional life out of my blades. But - living in the city - crud on the car ever freaking day - blades at least twice a year.

I went to Canadian Tire last night looking for some winter blades, and they didn't have a single model available in 26" (which is what someone posted is the driver's side).

I do not agree with some of you. Rain-X is the greatest thing since....well....the TSX. Especially on our rear windows that don't have a wiper. I just got home from a roadtrip to Los Angeles where it was raining constantly all weekend. The wind wipes the side and rear windows off as if it isn't raining at all and the wipers needed only to be used on intermittent when everyone else had theirs on full speed. You only need to apply it every three months on the windshield, six months everywhere else. I wouldn't drive a car without it.

I just picked up my TSX last wednesday (the 5th), and my wipers are really bad when using the washer fluid, but when it's raining, they work great... So I guess i'm leaning towards the idea that it isn't the wipers fault, but rather the fluid? What do you guys think? I guess I expected a little better from a car that's only 6 days old!

Other than that - it's awesome!!

I think I'm getting the same thing. I have new Bosch blades, cleaned with 303 wiper-cleaner pads, and they work great in the rain/fog/mist, but suck using the washer fluid. I'm going to switch to the Rain-X fluid and put in some P21s stuff.

Nothing worse than driving into the sun with a streaky, filmy windshield.
