I am such a F'ing Idiot. Door Panel Damage

So I did that this morning While Parking. Left the Door Open and my emergency brake wasn't on, the car rolled backwards. I went for the brake pressed the clutch instead.

The Door Hit Against a Brick Wall. GOD! I am so pissed!!
anybody know how much is going to cost to fix this. I am assuming i have to replace the door panel now since its all indented. GRRRRRR to the body shop it is. After only three months of ownership.

That sucks bro! We all do stupid things in life. I can still recall the time back in 2002 when I purchased a brand new black 2002 Pontiac Grand Am GT coupe. About a week after ownership, I went and limo tinted the windows all the way around (5%). Anyway's, later on that night, I went out and my mom had parked behind me (1 year old Ford Explorer (black). Since the driveway was dark, and I had such dark tint, I backed up right into her Explorer. It screwed up my back bumper and her front bumper. I was so pissed as well, and I had to wait like 3 weeks to get my car into the body shop because there was a recent hail storm that caused a back-up at the body shop!

Anyway's, I hope you get that thing fixed soon. It's a bummer, but when you look back on it, you will probably laugh down the road.

Once I was trying to park by a pole on an incline. I was moving back and forth trying to park a little closer to the pole (I'd rather be parked close to the pole than next to the POS car on the other side). I was rolling back and hit the clutch instead of the brake....my side view mirror decided to whack the pole. Luckily, the damage is hardly visible.

And ouch...that door doesn't look repairable (esp. near the edge). But who knows...maybe there's some new methods now that I haven't heard about

Ouch man, I really feel your pain. Have a body shop give you its expert opinion, but since the dent is located in such an isolated spot there going to most likely tell you to replace the whole door.

One time I was behind a guy at a stop sign, and he was making a right turn. Naturally, I pulled up next to him since I was going straight. I under estimated the clearance between him and I, and completely scraped down my front fender, broke the mirror (it still did it job but was not adjustable any more), and put a nice scratch down 3/4 of the door.

I was PISSED. But that was in my T-Bird, and I don't have it any more. :-)

Now for the TSX....

I used to live in a six plex, and we all had garages one next to the other. Unfortunately for me, my garage was on the end next to a brick wall. My neighbor had parked in the driveway and was really close to my space. I thought I could make it, and in turn hit the brick wall and put a nice scratch in my bumper (still visible today). I went to back up, and ended up hitting the neighbors Escape, which did no damage to his vehicle but put an indent in my left passenger door (you can see it in certain lighting conditions). This was only after a month of owning it. I cried. lol

A few months later, I backed into a car. The only damage that was done was that now I have two marks on my bumper from the screws that mounted their front license plate. I was pissed about that as well. You can still see it today. :-(

A few month's _later_...somebody hit my car while parallel parking and didn't leave a note. Put a nice scrape in the drivers side rear quarter panel (or whatever it's called). Most of it cleaned off, but there are a few chips in the paint and some scratches that I couldn't fix.

Oh well...

Now that I live and work in an area that I DON'T have to park on the street and have my OWN driveway and garage...hopefully I won't encounter any excess wear on the body of my car! *keeps fingers crossed*

Thanks for all the condolescences. I guess i am going to have to replace the door. I might as well get it tinted and put on a clear bra when im in the body shop. Might as well spend more money i don't have.

Look on the bright side ... you've gotten the first accident/ding/gash/blemish out of the way. Most people wait nervously for years for that to happen. Now yours is broken in.

Unsolicited advice, I know, but when driving a new/unfamiliar car, I'm slow and cautious and pay extra attention. Switching from an '87 Wrangler to this, I've been especially timid as I don't know where the limits are, and it's a very different vehicle. For one it makes me overly confident. So you're not alone.

For the sakes of not starting a new thread. So i went to get my estimate this morning. They told me that the skin is going to be replaced but they can salvage the door. $1250.00 for everything, I dont know if i should get a second opinion or if i should just get it fixed.

I could have gotten the a-spec suspension with that. GRRRRR

Question, is it normal for them to have to paint the fender and the rear door, if you are replacing the left door skin? the car is fairly new it seems a little odd to me for them to have to blend the paint in anybody have any experience with body shops?

Always get 2 or more estimates. Ask the shop what they will do to fix it. If teh prices are drastically different, consider the extent of what they want to do, and the quality.

At least you will get rid of any swirl marks and scratches after you get your new door.
