I am selling my TSX

Hi there,

I'm in Toronto, Canada; specifically, I'm in Markham (Kennedy and 16th Avenue). I have to sell my TSX as my wife wants to get an suv in prep for "family life". I love this car, but unfortunately, at this time, we need a larger vehicle.

The details: The car was purchased from Acura Markham on June 28. It is a pearl white TSX, manual transmission, with the skirt package and spoiler. It also has the rubber floor mats and the 3M clear hood guard. The car has a 6 year extended warranty from Acura (extra $1300 from dealer). It has roughly 4500km on it and is completely stock. It is in perfect condition: no accidents, no dings, scratches. I am asking for $36900. If you are interested, please give me a call: Arthur Li, cell (647) 284-2858 home (905) 927-1008. Thanks!

make the wife sell her car. I don't really get the SUV thing for an infant, no car pools or soccer practices yet.

Your price is WAY too high, as you know.

Also, it's obvious you bought the car for your own driving enjoyment. Show your wife who's boss.

I'll bet it also has to do with the stick-shift.

Too bad you can't get a TSX wagon. You'd have your TSX and the family hauler in one nice package.

Yes this would be great I hope it is here before we're in wagon/SUV territory.

why not just put it in the back seat?

you can also pu the front passenger seat all the way back and recline the seatback if needed, should ne able to get close to 27" up front/

The box didn't fit in the doorway, and I did put it in the backseat. Little things like this have just had me noticing how much more convenient a wagon would be... and since we're buying a house this year I expect a lot more of those things to creep up

$36,900 CAD converted is $28,065 US...seems high since non-navi MSRP is lower....in the US anyway

Yup, he'll need to knock at least 4 grand off that price from what I have seen in autotrader.

I dont get the SUV thing either. I mean the TSX is a SEDAN, so it would be fine for a child, especially an infant.

Yup, I bought my TSX for the very reason of having a new baby. We're able to lug all the stuff around (packn play, chair, diaper bag, jogging stroller etc) with no trouble at all. The car seat fits nicely in the middle seat position. Only if/when we have another child, or when she is much older will I consider the need for something bigger.

Brace yourself ... while a small wagon works better than a sedan for groceries and suitcases on a day-to-day basis, for moving serous amounts "stuff" for a house (and kids) you'll need a pickup, a minivan or a "large" SUV like a Suburban or Excursion. Maybe a third car (truck)?

(No, not , my wife bought me sway bars, a skidplate and a strut tower brace for Christmas when my Volvo wagon was new!)

Thanks for the feedback guys. The price is a bit steep, and I will likely start lowering it as time goes by. However, since I am the seller, it's my duty to start high. Anyways, the 6 year warranty is an extra $1300 and the body kit and spoiler together is another $3000. Base price of a new TSX is ~$34900 without taxes. When you add all the stuff in, $39200 (not even including tax). I do expect people will try to talk the price down, so I figure $36900 will give me a bit of negotiation room.

Yes, I know. There's lots of "whipped" and "why an SUV?" comments. And although I do agree that getting rid of this car really sucks for me, I feel its the best thing for us right now.

Hey the_peel, the truth is its none of our business why you want to sell.

But, I'd just like to suggest that you consider waiting a couple years before you sell, because financially, selling now is the worst thing you can do. Your depreciation dollar per km is massive right now. And "the familly" needs money too! Just something to think about.

But if you are set on selling, then you might want to make sure you sell it before the 05's come out.

How many kids do you plan on having? My parents raised two kids without a SUV or minivan. In fact for quite some time, one of their two cars was just a Datsun 2+2 280Z (small two door). Most people do not "need" a SUV. Don't be another lemming that falls for the marketing hype!

hey man, why do u want to sell the Tsx? Sell your Accord instead, like other people have said. Or you can sell ur Tsx and Accord and get the new Accord sedan V6 for your family. If you want SUV, get the MDX or Fx35.

Hes totally whipped now, u ask him what kind of food or whatever HE wants, he'll answer WE dont like that. Them i say u liked it before. Then he goes WE dont like it anymore.

Exhibit A as to why you shouldn't buy overpriced options and expect it to have a major impact on your resale value.

SUV's really suck man. Only a couple are built on
unibody. The rest are trucks.

You get a real car, top family safety, in a minivan.
Look at the Mazda MPV, small for a minivan, and way cheaper
than Honda. Honda's is aging and due for replacement.

Talk the wife into waiting to see what the new
Odyssey looks like, that'll buy you some time.

Tim
