I'm not sure how long I will keep it. I'm currently saving up for my own place and I'm thinking that selling my car and driving something less expensive would be a smart move on my part in a year or two. Maybe trade it in for a used RSX-S or something like that and pocket 5-7 grand. We'll see though...

i want to keep mine for at least another 4 years after that who knows. Dont get me wrong i LOVE my car it is just with my driving habits i am sure i will have racked up a bunch of miles since i have only owned it for a year and put 40,000 miles on it.

I agree. There are much more important things.
And from the TSX perspective, its a 4 door sedan with great handling and ageless good looks to it. Like many E36 BMWs, some old Acura Legends, etc, it'll still be running well and still look good in a decade. If I really feel the itch, I'll probably buy some used but fun older exotic (NSX, Lotus Elise, M3, s2000) within 5-6 years and keep my TSX.

I'll keep it 4 years, then I will give it to my wife (she only puts about 8,000 miles a year on a car).
Her Audi is now 10 years old. Same thing then, I had then she does. But she picks the car too.

Looking at the way I keep my cars, I'll probably keep the TSX for at least 8 years. I kept my 90 Prelude for 8 years, my 98 Prelude is already 7 yrs and 3 months old and I have no plans on selling it. Between my wife and I, the shortest we kept a car was her 97 Civic. We had it for just under 2.5 yrs, then traded it in for the 99 Integra. We were planning to keep the Integra for a while, but shortly after its 4th year b-day, it was totaled.

Making a car (a good or bad car alike) is associated with a great impact on the environment.
One way to minimize such impact is: 1) to buy only durable cars and 2) to keep them long.
We had used our Toyota Camry wagon for 14 years before replacing it with the TSX. My 10 years old Integra will be used for some more time until replaced (hopefully) by Sports4 (see http://www.vtec.net/news/news-item?news_item_id=420308)

right now i'm thinking at least 5 years..
2-3 years to pay if off, and then an extra 3-4 years while i'm at grad school or law school or whatever.
after that, depending on what kind of jobs i can get, i might be able to upgrade...

What Would Don Draper Do?
right now, due to finances and thinking about going back to grad school, it'll be awhile before i look into a new car. probably looking at around 7-10 years. i have about two years and 2 months to pay off the car. but i know i'm gonna have some loans and debt to pay off when i finish grad school.
i'd like to upgrade to the m45 though...someday...

doesn't the automatic come with some sports thingy that is almost like manual, but without the clutch? how much of a difference is manual compared to this feature (assuming the tsx has it.. which i believe it does).
i don't know how to drive stick, and drive in LA (traffic) so i'm thinking of just getting the automatic.. i hope i don't regret my decision in a few months.

I noticed the vast majority of people say they'll keep it for a long time, including myself. But to be honest man, as people who care about luxury, who care about image (I'd think you belong to both categories if you own a TSX), and who has the financial means, it might just be too hard to resist replacing our beloved TSX when the next cool new thing comes out. My two cents.

3 years until my lease ends. I like driving a "new" car every few years. When the lease ends, I might get another TSX, Infiniti M, or a TL, or a RDX (most likely). If they come up with a hybrid RDX... then I will get it for sure.

Like one of these guys did state here, I actually changed my mind, when that Honda Sport 4, possibly Gen 2 TSX comes around, I may have to get rid of the 04 TSX for this.
