How come you don't see the outline of the airbag

How does the airbag deploy on the passenger side? Do you need to replace the whole dash if it does?

Not that I care if it protects my face from becoming a pulverized piece of meat but just curious.

Do you get a decrease in gas mileage when you tint your windows?

I'd bet yes. Unless it pops out from behind the faux metallic trim which I doubt.

The dash will probably be the least of your replacement worries if your in an accident bad enought to make them come out

~12mph, but it really depends on how you hit something and what you hit, I suppose.

It deploys from the center of the upper dash, just like all Hondas have been for years, you just can't see the cover. If you inspect it in bright light you should be able to see a faint line in the dashpad at the top.

Any pic other than a chick w/ hairy armpit would do...
This user has a good sample: MyK24a though it gets distracting (pleasently at any rate)... btw, before you ask, apparently that is NOT a picture of the user himself

I haven't seen much of deployed airbags (NOT wanting to either), has anyone heard of or seen any cover of a deployed airbag flying off and causing injuries, etc.?

i never understood where the driver's one comes from...if its from behind the horn panel on the steering wheel then don't you get smacked in the face by a big piece of hard plastic in front of the airbag?

also...where is the airbag if you get an aftermarket steering wheel?

I believe most aftermarket steering wheels don't have airbag... that's a big trade-off... IMO, TSX steering wheel is very good, though the rim could be a bit thicker even for my not so big hands

I agree. It's a bit thin. I guess I could buy one of those steering wheel wraps. Go leopard skin or better yet metal chains.

No Pass. Airbag "door"

Acura's website notes the "hidden" passenger airbag as a feature giving the dash a clean design. They "etch" the dask cover on the underside, so it will tear-away if the bag deploys, but leaves no unsightly door panel. I'm sure this also saves Acura manufacturing $$$$ (fewer parts), but if it deploys, seems to me you've gotta replace the whole dash. On the other hand, if it deploys, you probably need to replace the whole car.....

aftermarket steering wheels dont have airbags.

hence "off road use only"

I think I did see the outline today on the dash...it is VERY faint. If it ever deployed I can't imagine being able to re-use the dashboard.
