Holdback on TSX?

Are dealers getting holdback on the TSX? According to Edmunds, they get 3% of base MSRP... that'd be about $800. That'd make the real dealer cost about $23,400. Possibly a good negotiating point.

.

since the TSX is in such high demand, its difficult to get the TSX for 1000 under msrp. The demand is so high that many people on this website have been waiting weeks for their TSX. I got lucky and got my car the same day and i got a good dea, but i think anything more than 1000 off msrp requires some magic...

oh yeah, the dealer is making a huge amount a profit from these things, the MDXs too. I think I know how acura can afford to give us life time roadside assistance

As for your question regarding holdback, it is calculated on invoice, not MSRP. The 3% holdback is paid to the dealer, usually quarterly, and it NOT negotiable. The money from holdback is paid to a dealer as to cover operational costs. This money is not considered gross. It keeps the lights, A/C, phones, and computers working. Don't try to get a dealer to play with this money. It's not the sales department's money. Trust me.

As for the other comment about the profits that Acura is making on the cars (like the TSX and MDX in particular), you're crazy. Acura has the lowest margin from invoice to MSRP in the high-end division of cars. On the TSX, a dealer makes about $2000. You tell me where that is a lot of profit. Especially when the dealer holds a few hundred of that in pack, pays the salesperson about $200 and make ready to clean it. Get your head on straight. We're not making that much money on them.

Edit: On a side note. Why not go take a couple minutes of your time on http://www.edmunds.com/new/2004/acur....num7.0.acura* and look at a few listings of invoices from a few companies and rethink your earlier statement. I think you'll be surprised.
