I suggest you pay less than $8k depending on the condition and options.

$7k is more in the ballpark. As far as the miles, I wouldn't worry about them as long as you give the car a good mechanical look over. I bought a Subaru with 120k and put another 100k on her before getting rear-ended. I'd imagine a well taken care of TSX would go 250k.

2004
124000

Turned rotors and new pads at 60000
New rotors and pads at 110000
Cat. Conv. heat shield fell off at about 115000
New battery at 120000
Driver door lock actuator 122000
Front shocks are leaking

I would like to know more about the slotted rotors and the AC problems. Do you have a manufacturer/model for the rotors? What was the cause of the AC problems.

Anyone need a new AT yet? What was the cost?

Haha, I'm so with you on that! My TSX only has about 5K Miles. I only drive it to school, and back... I do switch off between two cars though...

Im not liking all the talks about AC and tranny problems.

I have 85K on mine. No "major" issue. I have aftermarket rotors and pads. Also replaced the drivers and passenger door actuators. Oh and the paint is fading like no other.

2004 with 141K and running strong

Routine maintenance only; drive belt, spark plugs, battery, ATF filter. I did deal with the center console display failure, and two sets of warped OEM rotors but I went to aftermarket Powerslot rotors with good performance since then. I bought a new OEM suspension at 110K miles and the car handles as tightly as when it was new. It still returns 31-32 mpg regularly and burns less than a quart of oil every 5000 miles. Barring a freak event, I'm confident I'll see 200K

I'm also an owner of an 04 6MT with 147k miles! And she's still running great.. though I may be needing a new APP Sensor soon...

HID's went out at around 120k, otherwise just normal maintenance per Acura's recommendations.. (+Synthetic oil changes every 5000 - 7500 miles, does not burn oil... yet)

Off the top of my head…and in rough chronological order

Insert about every 40k miles Breaks, breaks, on one occasion, jammed pin on rear calipers – premature wear, breaks again.

Center console light outage and driver’s side door lock failures – warrantee repairs at dealership.

Burned through three batteries and two accessory belts. Approximately every three and four years respectively.

Oil consumption (burning) at around 70k

Clutch replaced at 104k (aftermarket clutch/flywheel replacement) – local mechanic.

110k stock header cracked – aftermarket CT header replacement.

O2 sensor failure at 120k, Hondata un-flashed by dealership; Re-flashed at local mechanic and reimbursed by dealership;

Timing chain stretch at around130k – dealership repair;

Clutch slave/master cylinder replacement at 140k – local mechanic, clutch master cylinder failure at 145k (fixed/replaced under warrantee) – local mechanic; more problems with clutch hydraulics, re-bleed and adjustment. Fixed!

Water pump leaking, replaced at 146k. Heat shield clamp added. – dealership;

APP replaced 147k –self.

Still running like a champ. Lol.

Lol. - Keep putting oil in it...PTA, I know but at this point I don't think the dealership or Acura is gong to spot me a new short block.

There have been a few posts on here regarding excessive oil burning, but I was well out of warrantee when it became apparent that I was using more than a quart every 3k miles.

My advice, stay away from an 04'. I still love the car though, sort of bitter sweet guess.

I'm at 112k miles and aside from swapping out my Comptech exhaust for an OEM this coming weekend, the car is running great. Still have all the other mods on it including the Comptech springs on the original shocks and aside from rust on the springs, it handles very well. Most importantly, I still have the original A/C Compressor, but that may be more due to the fact I rarely ever use it (~ once/twice a week), even on hot days. Will be looking for a recharge here soon just to make sure all is well.

Just hit 165k miles this Friday. I'm having GPS related issues with the navi, but otherwise she's still solid!

105,000. Had to replace tranny and also changed the clutch while had the tranny off. Also replaced the alternator. Waiting for my axles to come soon. Hopefully it'll solve the shaking while braking.

106,000 miles on my 2004, and still running strong.

- Had the center console replaced.
- Did recalls for headlights, trunk wiring, and power steering
- Had brake pads replaced around 30k due to squealing, currently having warped brake rotors (car shakes when brakes are applied)
- Battery replaced twice (both OEM)
- Seatbelt replaced due to ABS light
- Replaced tires once, due for a new set in the next 4-5k miles

04 6MT - 145k and still runs great, although my 2nd gear syncro is going out. Other than that, no major repairs.

Replaced drivers door actuator at 90k (covered by extended warranty), center stack light issue (warranty). On 3rd set of tires (2nd set of Bridgestone Potenza RE960 AS - great!) and 2nd battery.
Both HIDs and pass invertor & ignitor

What is a pass invertor and ignitor? Are these two items connected with the HID lights?

This guy seems to have one of the highest mileage TSXs: 260k+ miles:

http://celebrate.acura.com/OwnerStories.aspx#462

and with no major mechanical issues!

This "owner stories" site was set up by Acura's PR firm to help celebrate the brand's 25th anniversary.

It's similar to one Honda has run for a few years now:

http://automobiles.honda.com/mile-makers/

I would encourage everyone with high mileage Acuras or with reliability or crash survival stories to post his or her story to the site. It helps reinforce Acura's brand image for reliability and safety, and ultimately helps us with higher resale values. Plus it's entertaining to read.

Just purchased 2005 tax auto with 108xxx miles. So far, all maintenance was done by dealer. I replaced air filter, plugs and aux belt. No apparent issues. The suspension feels really good. Plan on valve adjust in a few months.

I have an 04 automatic, and just turned 200K miles. I am the second owner and am good friends with the original owner, so I know all the history. Problems:

1. Center stack lights don't work right - don't care enough to fix
2. AC compressor failed at 188K miles - replaced myself, total cost $350
3. Passenger door actuator failed

Other than that, tires, brakes, oil changes (Mobil 1 5W30, every 10K miles or so), and tranny drain/fill with Honda ATF have kept it running like new.

Highest mileage

Been a long time, just wanted to give an update. My 2004 Acura tsx now has 408,000 miles on it from commuting etc. I wonder if I have the most miles for the 04 tsx.

Unfortunately I'm possibly starting to have clutch issues and maybe a coolant leak. Oh well we'll see. I got my money's worth so far.

WOW!

Roger, where you been?

By far you have the most mileage of any TSX on this forum. There maybe are a couple of cars in the 200,000 range. Nobody had gone over 300,000 or 400,000 miles.

Could you take a picture of your dashboard showing the 408,000 miles and post it? That is quite a feat.

This is a great thread.

2006 TSX and at 185,000 miles. Good to see that someone has cracked 200,000 because I am going to need mine to.

Mine has survived body damage from an accident. I'm going to have to check the suspension soon I think, but "major" repairs so far have been the O2 gauge (something to do with emissions system) in 2009 and the serpentine belt in 2012 (basically just normal wear and tear though).

Other than that its the usual upkeep for any car, althought my recent emissions test error code means either O2 gauge is acting up again or catalytic converter? needs to be replaced, which is major. I'm going to have to find a thread for some advice on that.
