HIDs

I seem to be getting high-beemed alot by oncoming cars.

I like the way my hids are pointed right now, in fact to me...i wouldnt even mind them pointed higher.

But I am wondering if they are actually aligned a bit too high right now, since many people seem to think I have my highbeams on. Anyone else have this happening?

take it to your dealer if its not too much trouble and have them reset the height.

Not me either. But it seems like a lot of people have a hard time accepting HIDs as being a true safety upgrade.

Yeah, people think that they are your brights, but a quick flash back at them will show them that it's not your brights. I don't think they are too high at all...and taking it to the dealer is probably not going to help, as I don't think adjusting them lower is going to change anything. You're always going to get flashed with HID's, they're just so damn_bright.

i'm still getting used to the sharp cut off. going on a tight hilly dark road is a lil weird....cause when you're going down the hill, you can't see further up when it starts to go back uphill due to the sharp cutoff. but i totally love the look of the hid's.

Those people are just trying to start shit. Seriously, HID's don't bother me, as long as they're in low-beam. Only when it's high beam does it get distracting - but guess what, so do halogen lights.

I've posted this before when people have wanted to upgrade to HID, but a NHTSA was going to rule on new laws around HIDs and a study was done to see how much brighter HIDs were.

The evidence from independent tests were that HIDs don't actually give off significantly more light (barely 3x more lumens). So people are simply crazy when they see the lights.

Frankly, the same arguement was made when Halogens light bulbs became brighter and guess what. People staring at bright lights is the problem, not the lights.

I LOVE MY HIDs

Not significantly more light? Isn't "barely 3x more lumens" significantly more?

I mean, isn't that kind of like saying, "I didn't pay significantly more for my car than MSRP. I paid "barely 3 times more".

My point was that if you were trying to say that the lights contributed to a greater distribution of light and intensity, the fact is there isn't enough information to support a claim like that. HIDs appear brighter because it is a focused light at a different wavelength. Hence, people are complaining about the HIDs because they appear different and not because they are substantially different.
