Sorry if this has been discussed.

If one is going to leave (vacation) the car for 4 weeks, should one disconnect the battery whilst away? What are the impact of leaving the battery connected?

Thanks!

Good question. I never disconnected the battery on my previous Hondas... i left for up to 3 weeks, and the cars started no problem.

I think there was a post like this before...the guy left it connected, and had no problems after a few weeks at vacation. Leaving the battery connected shouldn't be a problem. It'll let your alarm go off if someone tries to take it.

It shouldn't be a problem. Just give it a good charge first (drive on the freeway) and make sure no interior lights are left on after the doors are closed.

I'd leave the battery connected, but put some gasoline stabilizer (I use Stabil). That's very important.

For one month, it's not neccesary to do anything.

Heck, back when we were a Daewoo dealership and Daewoo was going through bankruptcy, we had cars in the back 40 that hadn't been started in many months, some up to a year.

I actually wanted to get a cake and candles to celebrate the 2nd "birthday" of a blue Nubira that had shovel marks all over the hood from a bad winter storm!
