Help with going Stock Navi to Non Navi, not the other way.

Hi,

I might have posed this question in the wrong section.

I want to go to non navi from my stock navi. Is this a simple plug and play? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I have a 2004. Thanks.

I don't think this will be easy since the Nav screen is used for climate control and audio control in addition to navigation.

Why would you want to remove it?

Well its acting up and I think I need to send it to Alpine but its like $350. I can get a radio with CD which has HVAC controls on it for less. Iam wondering if it is plug and play and the harnesses would not need modifying.

$350 seems reasonable if it fixes your issue, considering new Nav units go for $750 on Ebay. It would keep the car stock and retain more value when you go to sell.

How would you get an aftermarket head unit to work with your steering wheel buttons and control the HVAC? You'd also loose the Nav, which you might not use, but will affect resale value.
