headlights

Just bought a new Acura 2005 TSX 5AT yesterday and using the headlights on for the first time this evening I noticed that several drivers flashed their headlights back to me...(just like when your brights are on)...but that was not the case as they were off as I checked several times turning them on/off....

unless they are misalligned...not sure why they are doing this..but maybe its because xenon is brighter....? thanks,Marc.

Projector based HIDs have sharp cutoffs. When driving behind a car with projector HIDs, it does appear that the high beams have been flashed when the car goes over a bump.

It will take time for people to get used to HID headlights. There is no point in flashing them back with your lights, it will only aggravate them more.

get used to it, our HID is just like BMW and AUDI, very bright and changess color from different angle..you wont ever get anyone flash headlight at you if you were in LA, every other car has HID, im sure your neighborhood will get used to it soon!

depends where you are is a key. around here people are so dumb that you could be driving with the same person and soon as u get to a rurual area theyll think you have the brights on. but thats life here. ive gotten people on the other side of the median on a two lane each direction road flash the brights repeatedly at me, and soon as u flash em back they feel stupid.

Was watching a show about LA news crews in helicopters getting a BUNCH of "flashes" all the time. That's hilarious.

The HIDs are brighter than some people are used to so they may think you have your high beams on. Or, as was mentioned, if you go over a bump the cutoff may make it look like you are flashing them and they just retrun the favor. Better get used to it. It happens to me once in a great while, less so lately. People will get accustomed to it as more and more new cars get HIDs.

HID fogs are existant but they aren't standard Acura equipment. You would have to go aftermarket and would have to swap out the bulbs and isntall ballasts. Not too bad of a job since the kits make it really easy. All you have to know how to do is match up colors.

I get flashed at least once a night it seems, usually by cars without xenon, but last night even by a benz with xenon. I flashed back a few times and he/she kept on flashing. It drives me nuts sometimes!

It might have been on another board where I was reading about Hoen bulbs that have a similar color to HID but are a conventional bulb. Seems like less trouble than trying to retrofit an HID fog. :-)

I haven't been flashed yet.

I read an article in the paper where a lady wrote in to complain about lights like ours. She went on to say that she flashes everyone that has them. Even though she knows their brights are not on, she does it just to show them she dosen't like them.

What a bitch. She's probably the same type of person who complains that TV and Internet have made people leave her weekly book club and thus she has no friends left.

Turn your brights on and leave them on.

I've had folks complain to me about the color...not the brightness the color, WTF.

Go buy your own, then we will all be the same color. G** I hate when folks are luminescently discriminatory, it's a shame our culture tolerates it....
