Headlight bulb help
Headlight bulb help
Hi all,
Was on my way to meet with friends yesterday and noticed that my headlight was out. No beer for me
I went to Autozone today, their computer showed TSX 04 headlight as dealer-only item. Doh. I searched this forum and now my head is spinning with prices and lumens.
I bought this car used, I am fairly sure it still has stock headlight bulbs. Will a direct replacement of stock bulbs really cost me around $200? I am not looking for anything brighter than stock. Is there OEM or aftermarket replacement to get the same level of brightness?
thanks!
Sergey

You just need a D2S bulb. They're not standard halogen bulbs and unfortunately are quite pricey. And if you're going to replace one, its probably a good idea to replace the other at the same time. No advice on where to get them from. The stock color temp is 4300k. Above or below that and you'll suffer lower light output. Higher color temp will have a blueish look, lower will get you a yellowish look.
You'll have to buy bulbs of course, but replacing them yourself (if you do it safely) will save you much. I've never had to replace mine yet, but I took them out before for shipping the assemblies, and its mostly easy.
I agree +1
I hope mine never go out after the beer has already been dranken haha

you can go on to ---->>IJDMTOY.COM<<---- and get the garax hid for about $60. I've been using it for almost two years now. Mine is a 12000k, those are awsome. 100% Japanese made, I believe the once in our car made by phillips in Germany. Good luck bro.

You have the equivalent of putting lower wattage bulbs in when jacking up the colour. Do you not care that you have less visible light in your headlights?
You would be surprised the amount of stuff a shop needs to check and doesn't due to laziness. As Mskierki has stated just because you passed doesn't mean it is legal. Supposed your tires were almost to the point of being bald and you still passed inspection. That doesn't mean you are street legal and not only do you pose a hazard to yourself but to others as well.
That's okay- the decision is ultimately yours. We're just letting you know that you're diminishing light that you have to be able to rely on in order to properly react in a split second... in order to preserve road safety for not only you, but also for others on the road as well.
The color temperature on OEM HID equipped vehicles is 4300K, which they look yellowish and the lighting is not intense at all. After replacing the stock 4300K D2S or D2R bulbs with the JDM D2S or D2R bulbs, it will get rid of the yellowish look. The color temperature of the JDM bulbs will emit a more intensive Golden Yellow 3000K color, Ultra White 6000K color, Brilliant Blue 8000K color, Deep Blue 10000K color or Light Purple 12000K color.
It is perfect for customers who are looking for the better performance and exotic looking light output for their loved vehicles.
This is a direct replacement for your existing 4300K Xenon bulbs, there is absolutely no other hardware is needed.
These Xenon bulb are precisely assembled by GARAX, a Japanese company, in order to maintain exact focus point and consistency. This will make sure the beam pattern will be the same as the stock 4300K D2S or D2R bulbs.

Do you have a point? I do.
By putting 12000K lamps in your car your headlights aren't as bright (unless you are also changing the ballast). In reality it probably doesn't matter because you are most likely driving around a city with lighted streets. However it may be illegal in your area and just because you passed some mandated inspection does not necessarily mean that you comply with the laws in your state.
However, thank you for copying the marketing information from some website. If there is one thing that I have learned it is that websites always give accurate information, especially when they are trying to sell you something.

^ lol that. He's just going for looks as use is definitely not in the equation with 12000K unless you're a show car or something. Let him do as he pleases, if (when) a cop decides to enforce the law he will get a ticket for it. Plenty of cops/inspectors overlook things as they please but if illegal they can/will eventually get you...my personal experience: tint and my friends with no front plates in VA.
OP:
As said: D2S bulb, 4300K stock (I like 5000K but no big diff), DIY replace as the dealership will charge you a lot for no work. Replacement bulbs are a dime a dozen nowadays, esp online, just get the proper bulb (D2S) and color/temp you want. With the temp/color just be sure you know your legal laws, I wouldn't go above 6000K to be safe.

Anyway, I'm not trying to bring down on the guy. Its for informative purposes only.
Furthermore, this below link should help the OP and others in DIY changing HID bulbs. Just note that its a 25kV system (25,000 volts), so be careful and disconnect power first.

Everybody, thanks for the information! I ordered Philips D2S 4300K from eBay, two bulbs for $90 (still cannot believe the price). The installation was easy: tamper-proof T20 bit from Autozone, a flashlight and a mirror. If you are replacing both bulbs, do the driver side first, it is easier to see and reach. Remove the battery, 'learn the ropes' on the driver's side bulb then go for the passenger side.
