Has this happened to you ?
This past Saturday I had a young guy in a lowered Accord with loud obnoxious exhaust pull up beside me at a set of lights. Well you know what happened next, I gave him a go. When pushing the shift from 1st to second, I bogged the car down ending up in fourth ?? I thought it was me just missing it, problem is it happened at the next set of lights too, against the same Accord. I still managed to beat him handily even know my car nearly came to a standstill. I am a decent driver and have not had this happen in any other car I have owned ( I sold my 91' NSX in Sept 03' and currently have a 90' 911 C4). Has this happened to anyone else ? It seems when I push the 1st to 2nd shift hard it comes out of gear and ends up in 4th. My car is completely stock for the record.

Never happened to me, especially after installing the short shifter. Maybe you need to be a bit more forceful in your1-2 shift? I don't think it will guide itself in 4th normally, try applying some lateral force (pull towards yourself) as you shift too.
I sometimes have a problem getting into 6th since no car I've previously driven had that gear. I learned to pull down and push out at the same time to make sure it got into 6th and didn't misshift into 4th.

Never happened to me either. Although when I first got my car I had to apply more force to shift in 2nd after I redlined 1st. It was kinda gritty, don't know how to explain it.
I've done top of 3rd to 2nd once. I though I was gonna be the first to have blown tranny!

Sorry. Never made that goof.
But don't feel bad—I made a HUGE one yesterday. I'm on the highway doing about 70-75 mph. I go to activate cruise control. Instead of settling into the speed, the engine starts revving like crazy.
I was in nuetral. Duh.
I didn't really catch it 'til I was at about 6K RPMs. What a moronic way to have blown an engine.

It'd be pretty difficult to blow your engine at normal highway speeds. Maybe you could drop from like redlined in 3rd to second. But not sure what other combination would really get you above the max speed for the previous gear unless you were seriously speeding a lot. Dropping it into 1st from anything but 2nd is next to impossible due to the weird notchy downshift to 1st.

Luckily, the car just stalled out...I didn't hit anything...
