Has anyone done their brakes yet?
I'm just wondering if anyone has had their brake pads replaced yet. The reason I ask is tha my brakes were squeaking this morning, but I only have 9000km on my car so it would be very strange if I needed pads already. Oddly the noise seemed to go away after a few minutes of driving. I remember reading some threads about this before but I cant seem to find them again.
So...anyone have their pads reaplaced? ..and if so, after how many kms/miles?
Does anyone else hear this sqeaking?

Mine do the same thing (I've got 7000 miles/11200km--I think....). It seems to only happen when they're cold. That may be why it goes away after a while. I checked the pads, and they seem to have plenty of material on them, but maybe I'm looking at them wrong.
I'm gonna get them checked out when I take her in for an oil change on Thursday. I'll let you know what they say.

I have that same brake problem periodically and I have 27K km's. It may happen for five minutes and then not happen again for another month or a few weeks. Probly the cheap OEM pads.
What I do know is I had 75k KM's on my Civic and never had the brakes or pads done and the brakes still felt fine. I expect the same from the TSX.

It's perfectly normal for them to squeal a little while they're cold, but the noise should go away after a few stops. You might have a problem if they make noise even after a few mins of driving.

Every car I've had has made that sound when the brakes were cold.. it's ok as long as it goes away after a few brake applications. I think the humidity is a factor as well, since I've heard it (in an old car) when they were wet and not used in a while.

I went to the dealership for my 12,000 mile service and the man informed me that my front brake pads were down to nothing. So I was forced to get some new ones put on.

^^ Wow! Already?? I'm nearly at 8800 and was worrying about the squealing this morning. I figured it was just the cold, but if other people've also had worn-down brakes so soon, I'll look into it.

I have 5K miles on my car, and periodically my brakes will squeal when I first use them. If the car has been sitting for a while (more than a day or so) after driving wet or snowy roads, I've noticed that the pads have oxidized a bit. Once I tap the brakes a couple of times (ie. backing out of my driveway, generally), it rubs off, and the slight squeak goes away.
I'm pretty sure this is normal for most exposed pads.

a brake squeal noise doesn't indicate it's time to change the pads. there is another noise (high pitch) that will occur when you need to change them... most pads have an early warning indicator that essentially rubs against the rotor when the pads are worn to that point.
i would recommend removing some glaze on your pads and rotor by doing 3 or 4 hard stops from 40mph. this doesn't always work. it's hard to unglaze a pad.
