Happy Birthday to my 2004 TSX! Purchased 20 Years ago today!

Today marks 20 years since I purchased my 2004 Acura TSX at Lindsay Acura in Columbus Ohio. I now have around 275,500 miles on it and it is still running well. I did have the car in for service today as my A/C stopped working. The compressor and the condenser need replaced. Not too upset as it lasted 20 years but it will cost $2100. Overall I am very pleased with this car and very happy with the reliability.

After I first bought the car in April 28, 2003 there was some first model year issues that I had to get fixed.
  • I had water get into the drivers side headlight twice.
  • Trunk wire harness had to be replaced.
  • Radio back lights went out 3 times (twice under warranty) because a circuit board burnt out.
  • Engine belt had to be replaced.
  • Excessive wear on front brake pads.
  • Driver seat crept forward on braking.
  • Side airbag disabled due to a faulty switch in seat belt.
  • April 2013 recall for ECM/PCM corrosion.
  • Power steering hose replaced.
Those were all recalls.

Service Highlights...
  • Alternator replaced at 101,176 miles.
  • Oxygen sensor replaced at 129,927 miles
  • HID lamp replacement (right side) at 136,599 (April 2017) It lasted 14 years.
  • Starter replaced at 147,902
  • Right side front and rear door lock actuators failed and had to be replaced.
  • Timing Chain and Tensioner replaced (because I was being an idiot and wasn't checking my oil since I started putting extra miles on my car).
  • Timing cover removed, cleaned and resealed, Valve cover gasket replaced since it was leaking oil at 226,401
  • front loaded struts, front and rear stabi links, front lower arms, VTC oil valve replaced at 262,807
  • and lastly A/C Compressor and condenser need to be replaced.

Replaced my tires 4 times (5 sets total including the set that came with the car).

The Navigation system that came with my car still works, however Acura stopped updating the maps in 2013. I stopped using the NAV system many years ago after navigation apps on smart phones became a thing. I use Waze on my iPhone.

It has been a great car that I hope to have for a few more years. Had a number of fun road trips with it.

In 2017 I started working for Honda in vehicle assembly at the East Liberty Ohio Auto Plant where we build the Acura RDX and MDX as well as the Honda CRV.
