Sleeper,

See that sounds like it works but heres the thing. When you do it this way, especially on a hill your putting stress on the pin holding the car into the park gear, as I previously posted, this pin can eventally give way and just like my friends Subbie ur TSX is gonna roll down the hill through a fence in park once this pin breaks.

What I do is Shift into nutral standing on the brake, Lift the E-brake fully, then get off the brake petal, most of the time the car wont move, from there w/ my foot off the brake I shift into Park, thats the best way to do this on the transmission

Doesn't your foot have to be on the brake to shift into park?

How would Clutch know? Does Clutch's 6MT have "Park"?

I'm not so much of an MT snob that I've NEVER driven an automatic car!

I had to learn somewhere.

That's funny. When I still have my MT Saturn, my now-wife used to say that I drove it like a MT, and she'd get nauseous. I think I'd hit the gas too much to force it to engage

Now, I'm just a AT driving p**sy

Can't do it. You have to have the foot on the brake to shift past neutral.

The reason the car may move a little bit after getting off the regular brake and letting the parking brake take over is that the parking brake usually only works with the back wheels. It doesn't pull all four brakes. When you go from the brake pedal to the parking brake lever, you're letting the front pads go free. There can be a bit of movement as the car "settles in" to a new stable condition.

It's best if the parking brake is pulled and the regular brake pedal released at least briefly BEFORE shifting into park, as you suggest. You do need to get back on the regular brake before shifting to park, but there should be no movement when you release the brake pedal the second time.

On flat surfaces, all this is pretty academic. On hills you should also curb the wheels to avoid a runaway situation.

Incidentally, it is best for your brakes if your parking brake isn't pulled at all. When parked in my garage I tend not to use it at all. This is a fairly minor thing though.

Interesting. It's like double clutching, but with the brakes.

agh! ur transmission, Once again way to do it correctly, for minimal wear when parking is shift into nutral, engage the hand brake fully, get off the brake and shift into park, i dont know why my car can do this, and everyone else says it cant, but maybe urs can...

Now probibly more Importantly on a hill do not disengage the handbrake before shifting out of park if u applied the handbrake first, shift out of park before droping the handbrake, disengaging the handbrake will drop the car onto your transmission, not good.

trust me here guys lol, was attcually pritty horrifying chasing a car down a hill while its rolling backwards in park. (friends subbie, not my TSX lol dont wry)
