Halloween fiasco

I have a 2004 TSX silver metallic. Unfortunately, last halloween some kids threw an egg on the rear side panel behind the right rear door. There is an egg shell swirl that probably ate up the clear coat. It's truly annoying and been dying to get it fixed. I tried scratch out solutions for the past months and the swirl impact mark is still kind of visible during direct sunlight.

I took it to a superb detailing shop where I get my car washed and was told that the only way around it is by having it painted over.
Took the car this morning to a certified auto body shop (endorsed by Acura) and was quoted 600USD approx for the job. Whoa! Can i get around this with touch up paint??? My wife is a pretty good artist..lol..

Any thoughts fellow TSX owners/dealers?

Thanks,
Alan

that sucks man. I can't stand kids my age who throw eggs, it just doesn't make sense to me. Is it satisfying to destroy stuff that isn't yours?? I can understand kids doing stupid things to themselves, but common, its just not cool to ruin other peoples stuff.

Pssst....Alangon.

If you have 600 bucks to blow (that is, waste on a virtually needless paint job) .... get a Hondata reflash.

Painting is about all you can do. My dad had it happen to him a few year ago, his car was dark green and the eggs scratched right through the paint into the grey primer. It had to be painted.

You probably should have reported it to the police at the time so you could make an insurance claim, assuming your deductible isn't too high...

yeah i agree. i don't understand why kids our age have to do that kind of stupid shit that then makes all kids our age look bad. especially destruction of someone elses property. that is the worst slap in the face ever.

Honestly, I'd much rather be indoors partying on haloween than out wasting money on eggs to throw at random shit. I've just never been able to grasp the logic. This kid in my chem class got his license taken away for 3 months for driving eggers. I laughed at him so hard, he got what he had coming IMO.

damn man that blows... although to be honest, 600 seems like not a bad price. If you are getting it done and needed some input (and I don't know if you do) 600 for the whole rear side panel isn't that bad of a price...

prolly someone that has too much money and doesn't respect vehicles, theirs or others... (can you say 03TLson19s )

I have a similar problem. On my right passenger door, I have what looks a window that was wash and dried by the sun. You know if you don't wipe the window dry, it leaves spots. Well, I have that problem on my car. It does seem like the clearcoat has been eaten away by something. I've tried scratch remover and waxing, but nothing. I was also told that only repainting will do. Can't I just spray clearcoat finish over it or something?

Some kids got my car, i'm thinking they were from my school just jealous of my car..
three eggs on the left side it was at night so I didn't notice till I touch this gunk on my window, and quickly rinsed it off.
