Got My New '08 TSX

Black on black with nav, 6 speed manual. I am just wondering what I should do first? Anything I should try to hook up or figure out? Any tips of advice from you seasoned TSX owners

One quick question, I messed with the bluetooth and I tried calling my house. It went through but my sister was on the other end and said the reception was terrible. We switched places and I have to agree, it sounds very static. Anyone have any advice to fix that?

Thanks in advance for all the help!

WTF, they still have 6-speeds? lol I got so raped when I bought mine in February (comparatively speaking, I'm sure you guys are getting awesome deals on the 08's).

Anyway- what phone are you using? I use the original LG Chocolate (vx8500) and convo's are almost always crisp and clear, but the one or two times it wasn't I hung up and tried again. I'm assuming you did that, so maybe repairing it might help?

First and foremost, if you're in a position to do so, I'd probably lower it. And if you don't wanna blow tons of money on rims, maybe think about getting Spacers to lower that offset. at +55 on 7" wheels, you've got a lot of room to make your stance WAY more aggressive.

Just have fun with it! half the fun is figuring out what you want, so don't let somebody else tell you wut to do, or how to do it!

Happy modding! or not-modding if that's ur thing hahaha

The OEM tires suck. I got rid of them even when they weren't worn out. I love my Bridgestone Pole Positions.

Thanks for all the replies guys. With regards to the bluetooth, I am using a LG Shine. I am going to keep messing with it tonight and see if I can't get it working properly. I'm sure I'll be back with more questions...

Were you driving or parked? Parked right outside? Sometimes two cell phones being so close (on the same cell tower) can be problematic. If you were driving, know that the mic is in the overhead near the HomeLink buttons. If the a/c is really blowing, turn the fan down a bit. Close the sunroof shade (and sunroof if open! windows too!). Otherwise ... maybe that phone's BT audio connection ain't the best ... visit www.handsfreelink.com to check if your phone is listed as fully compatible, partially, or not at all (failed too many of their tests). Mine (Nokia 6682) is listed "some features," so I don't get battery, signal strength, all that neat stuff, but it still works just fiiiiine. YMMV.

I was parked outside of my house. I called my house phone not her cell phone. I have a LG Shine, and it says partially compatible on the website but when I hooked it up it all worked (battery power, signal strength, etc).

I will have to try again tonight and see if it works better. Thanks for the tips though!

These Bridgestones? These are what I will replace the crappy Mich's with. Top rated on Tire Rack.

^ Depends on where you are, what kind of driving you do. My vehicle entered service 3/2006, has 56,000 on the ODO, and the front isn't very bad at all. Though ... tonight I attached a steep driveway to Elmo's Diner in Durham, and scraped the bottom edge of the lip (again). Took the touch-up paint to 1" spots left and right. I'm sure no one but me would've noticed.

The TSX is not a Faberge egg, so the efforts to preserve the "like new" look make me chuckle. I was young once, too.

But, IF you're going to spend money anyway, putting a good clear bra on BEFORE any nicks happen would be an investment, I suppose. Better than fuzzy dice or that metal-look console kit.

I have a clearbra on and it works well. I detailed mine before I had my clearbra on. Honda is known and was mentioned many times that they use weak paint on their cars. I recommend clearbraing all TSXes.

I had mine done at Portland, OR. They do a lot of nice looking cars and are professionals in doing it. I used to live in California but not sure where you can do it there. Your best bet is to look online and ask about their work. Hopefully, someone here can recommend you one close to Antioch, California. Make sure they also do it under the door handles.

Thanks, bro.. I'll have to try to find a local retailer.. you don't really hear to much about the 'clearbras.' The door handles? Wow.. I didn't know they install under the door handles..

I figured I better do this mod quick before I regret it.. (apparently from experienced tsx owners.. i would regret not doing this mod).

With regards to the BT, it's probably your phone and not the car. I went from a razor that had static and various popping sounds when dialing, to a Touch that has no popping and is as clear as possible.

I'd clear-bra the forward-facing area of the mirrors, too. I don't have a clearbra, but can tell you the mirrors are one of the places that I need to wax and buff more often than others.

Consider replacing the OEM tires with something better. I am using Yokohama Avid V4S. They are wearing significantly faster than the OEM tires, but they have a Traction Rating of AA and provide good grip. They are also a little less harsh in the ride department.

Then, as several others have said, consider a clear bra, front, side mirrors, and under the door handles.

I agree get a clear bra. My 06 tsx with almost 57,000 miles on it still has the original OEM tires with no problems and with alot of thread still left. I get them rotated and balanced every 6,000 miles and check the tire pressure regularly. My car is stock and not lowered.
