Got a loaner.....2005 TL....What kind of gas does it take?

So i dropped the car off for service. Got a CG TL, 2005 with navi. Nice but boy our 2006 navi is so much better.

it isn't that much roomier in the back, the trunk looks the same...but the ride is a bit smoother.

nice car.

anyways, does it require premium? or can i be cheap and throw 87 in it to save some cash?

loaner, that means it can take whatever you want.

and if you really want the answer, you can check the TL forum.

For Christ sake, just use premium. It's what, a couple bucks more?

If ur too cheap to put 93 and feel bad to put 87, just put 89 then, you'll be neutral then.

It's not that I'm cheap, it's just that I don't care...every loaner I've gotten was fed regular.

I have an 2006 TL w/ NAVI. What makes the TSX NAVI so much better? More voice commands? Zagat? Does it have better resolution? I wish I could have waited until the 2007 TL MMC but I had to get a car now. I'm sure in the TL MMC it'll have an updated NAVI too.

i'd go with it as being cheap. if a car is supposed to be treated a certain way, i think it should be. if it's supposed to get 91, i'll put 91 in it. if i don't know, then i try to find out.

i'm not one of those guys who rents a car and abuses the hell out of it, i think that's disrespectful of someone's property...

but everyone has their own opinions, my manager drives the hell out of rentals.

i have a 2005 TL loaner, not a 2006. if i said 2006 i'm sorry. but the 2006 navi vs the 2005 is much nicer, in the display, in the speed of the calculations and loading, and the way the radio is displayed.

also, one thing i didnt get, every time i used the knob on the radio to turn up the volume, it said "audio off" on the screen and the radio would mute. i can only use the steering wheel controls, or it does it every time!

How much quieter is the cabin in the TL at freeway speeds? When I test drove several times, I was never paying attention how quiet/loud it was.

Hmmmm. I tried paying attention to as many things as possible. One thing i noticed was that whatever the suspension is on the TL, it absorbs the NJ highway bumps and potholes much nicer than the TSX (though the TSX is fine for me).

I think it was certainly quieter, but I don't know if it was significant enough to make me like it more.

The nice thing was the automatic sunroof, and i kind of like the button in the middle, where the passenger can access it also, instead of on the left (i dont know where it is on the 2006 TL).

One thing i'll say, we have the corner spot on our garage, and the TL was easier to park, because it's easier to see where the front corner of the car is.

Anyone else have this problem with the TSX? I always think i don't have room, and if i get out and look, i have like a foot!

i'm with you on that, i've had my TSX a little over a year, i'm still getting out mid-parking to check the distances, when i had a minivan, i used to be a pro with that thing, maybe it just takes a little more getting used to.

my friend just bought a 2005 TL 6MT w/ Navi and other then horse power and torque i wasnt as impressed as i thought i would be. I really didnt like the clitch. It didnt seem as smooth as the TSX's but that might be just b/c it was a new car with like 1k miles on it.

2006 tsx navi isn't the same as a 2005 tl navi. it's upgraded.

i have a question, so do you have to fill up the gas before you return?

so if you don't, what would happen?

just wondering I might get a loaner pretty soon

I have no exact info to offer. However, I would suggest that it must be OK (i.e. won't kill the car/engine) to put 87 gas in. It's a loaner after all, if you don't put 87 in it, someone else probably have and some other will eventually do so too...

It takes premium. I once got a TSX loaner where someone before me put in regular and it pinged like crazy. My dealer says that you must replenish the fuel you use otherwise they'll charge you $3 a gallon. For a while last year i honestly didn't mind because they would actually save me some money. lol

Man, dealers are doing you guys a huge favor by giving you free loaners, the least you can do is respect the cars and not try to save a couple bucks off the price of gas -- which you'd have to buy for your own car if you were driving it, so it's not some sort of "hidden cost" of the loaner unless they lend you an MDX

As long as we're at it, see if it takes E85....J/K, I would put 91 or 93 octane (cause here in Chicago I have yet to find 91 octane). If you're driving an Acura already a couple of pennies more for the good stuff won't break the bank.
