Got Hit, Didn't leave a Note!

I just got hit in my parking lot and they didn't leave a note! Our security is checking the security cameras right now. I hope we can catch em! If not, how much would it cost to repaint a rear bumper. It's not dented--just looks like someone drive perpendicular to me and took some paint off. I'm mad!

That sucks man. I know the feeling; I got scratched up in the parking lot of Ruth's Chris in Irvine. You're looking at an avg $500-600 to repaint the entire bumper.
Got pix?

If we can bring up his/her license plate number from the video, I'd love to give them the phone call. Could this be an excuse to buy a new bumper?

Oh Man

At work. That sucks. Most likely a co-worker then.

By looking at it, is it possible they just didn't know. I ask because about 2 years ago I scrapped a car, didn't even know until the side miror snapped up against the passenger window.

If the scratches are low on the bumper, you can buy a kit (like the OEM body kit) which would cover it up.

Then it's possible to have this covered up with the OEM body kit.

Considering the cost for painting the bumper to take care of a patch of scratched up paint (about 5 interrupted scratches about 5 inches long), I didn't get it done. I ended up using touch up paint, which from afar, looks fine, but not perfect. I figure that the next "accident" to the body will happen again, so to me it isn't worth it. Opportunity costs!

Yeah man, I'm a Mr. Binkley in South OC. I'm nicer though and have better classroom management. And, I don't use the Treasury of Scales.

That sucks!!~ I suggest that you should just fix the bumper rather than getting the oem kit to cover it up. You can always get the kit some other time. The OEM kit doesn't cost that much.

Ya it was a samurai sword.

He actually meant 12" wide.

LOL, I meant 12 inch wide, but the scratch is so deep that I could see the black on the plastic bumper

carbajal, I haven't fixed it yet, but Tustin Acura Dealer quoted me $180. Give them a try. I'm probably gonna just do the repaint myself, touch paint + sand paper = bye bye scratch

Is that $180 just to fix the 12" wide scratch? or repainting the entire bumper?

I'll go there tomorrow. The local paint shop that did my spoiler quoted me $568. $180 is better! However, I think the EuroR body kit would cover it up...doesn't it come up pretty high in the back? Where can I see a good rear shot of that? And, where can I get one?

Could I get the OEM front end, side skirts and just the Euro R back end? Would that look ok? I like the entire Euro R but not the front. I looked up Euro R kits with no fog lights and they little a little silly IMO. I'd get the OEM but it doesn't cover my scratch. Opinions?
