Llumar is the only tint I'll accept on my car, period.

My brother used to be a tinter for about 4 years and has seen a LOT of poor tints, NONE of which were Llumar film.

I lay madicco films! The Florida sun beats the crap out of window tine, especially if you park outside all the time. Madicco lasts a while without turning purple or pealing off. The film itself is also thicker than most which in turn makes the window even sturdier.

I just got my Huper Optik tint put on today. Not as glossy and metallic as I expected. Actually its a ceramic based tint not to interfer with GPS Navi and XM Radio which is why I got it. I was hoping for a more reflective look. The Huper Optik looks black. $600 complete car with visor.

They offerred 50% on the windshield for an extra $250, but I decided to wait until later.

Jesus!! $600 for a tint job?

I just got Llumar Platinum tint for $120 CANADIAN, installed, lifetime warranty.

That tint better suck me off on the morning commute for that price.

Search around on the web about the tint and you could learn a little more about it compared to other tints on the market.

I'm getting Formula One Pinnacle Series 35% all around this Friday 6/24 for $225 USD. It's a 100% ceramic tint and they warranty their product at all of their dealers. Convient if it ever peals.

If you have Navi or plan to continue satellite radio service search the TL and TSX forums about using metallic tints.

Here is one link of several in the TSX forum regarding Llumar affecting the reception.

Since I don't have NAVI, nor want to pay for satellite radio (CD's are just fine), Llumar works great for me.

I am just blown away by a $600 price tag for tint. That is insane, regardless of what it does/doesn't do.

i have 3m ceramic and i have to say ceramic is definetly worth the extra cost here in texas. My friend has metallic tint and his car turns into a hotbox halfway through the day, mine stays significantly cooler. no ass burns on the leather. I used to hate that my head would feel the hot sun during the day when the sun was shining through my metallic tinted windows in my old car. I dont get that heat now with ceramic tint. I only wish our moonroof panel had slots to let hot air out like so many other cars these days...

i have madico charcool tint on mine. it was done by a tint place that does all the major car dealerships in the costa mesa/oc area. it was $180 and comes with a lifetime warranty. my brother had his tl done and they both look great.

i think the tint brand matters to a certain extent, but without a reputable installer, brand doesn't mean much.

I have replaced many Solar Gaurd jobs for people. I have seen some pretty bad Solar Gaurd film that ha only lasted 2-3 years. It either turns purple, fades, or gets super blurry to the point you can't see $hit.

I install Madicco! That's whats on my car.

My choices in order:

1. Madicco
2. 3M
3. maybe LLumar

Anyone go here for advice?

http://www.tintcenter.com

It looks like a good site for info. I went through its advisor and it recommended 3M Ceramic and Huber Optik film for me (along with Llumar, but I think that would be too metallic and don't want to take any chances with the navi).

Huber looks the most intriguing, but the $$$$$ rating is a little intimidating. $600 for a tint job...ouch.

FormulaOne is Llumar's top end stuff. Not many dealers can install it. I got mine done for $200 all around. Check it out at Formula One

Exclamation

I would love to know a good tint shop in the NJ area too. I have a CG/Navi and the only good place I've been told about is Tropic window tinting in union, nj. However, they use Llumar Platinum tint.. so i'm scared it will affect my navi reception. But i really want to drop some 35% so bad.

call some of the major local dealerships (start with acura dealerships) to find out where they send their cars. usually, you can call the tint place and ask them about the film, warranty, and cost and they can give the info and a quote.

As I stated before I have Huper Optik on my TSX with Ebony interior. I have Diamond Tint Metallic dual layer based film on a Civic with black leather interior. I parked them both in the diveway today most of the day. The TSX is GC and the Civic is a wild custom pearl green. The Civic was much hotter than the TSX.

Before with them both out and the TSX untinted. I would burn myself on the leather. Now no burn, just hot interior. However the TSX overcasts shadows on the Civic, yet stays cooler. Im going to put digital thermometers in the cars tomorrow to see the difference.

Opened the door on the Civic and watched the heat flow out of the car. Or the mirrage of it and its shadow on the driveway. The TSX Didnt have this effect when I opened a door.
