Question Is this a Good Deal/Idea?

I have a 04 TSX w/ navi black/black. I paid $26,900 w/ protection pkg. It currently has 13k miles.

The dealership offered me $26,500 if I trade in for an 05 RL @ 1k below invoice.

The trade in value seems suspiciously high but maybe bc I got the car @ invoice. I know the RL has been deeply discounted all year but is there anything wrong w/ the car? I have been considering that, a Lexus GS or Infiniti M as well.

Thanks!

For issues (if any) with the RL, check the RL forums.

As for price, how much do you need to add on top of the $26.5k trade-in for the RL? The trade-in value is almost unbelievable.

Wow, it seems like you actually made some profit over your TSX by doing the trade-in. Congratulation.

Lightbulb I am Skeptical

I realize that they want to keep me as a customer (they knew I was unhappy w/ the TSX). They also had notes on our sale & I am sure they remember what a pain I was (over price & how indecisive I am) so I know that is why they went ahead and offered a great deal upfront w/ no negotiating ... yet.

However, they know what I paid for the car so why would they wanna buy it back for only $400 less a year later? Just seems too good to be true.

Now the 1k under invoice for the RL - that I believe bc they been selling them that cheap for a while.

I been reading the RL board -- not a lot of posts compared to here ...

Thanks!

I read somewhere that the RLs weren't selling that well. I think I remember someone quoting a $43K or a $41K price for a new one.

Exactly. 1K off an RL is 48K right? (correct me if I'm wrong) So even if their giving you a great deal on your TSX their still making more on the RL then they typically would. They possibly usually sell an RL for 43 to 45K.

Lightbulb 1k off of Invoice

Not 1k off of MSRP. At least that is what they said after I told them I got offers from other dealers @ that price. They then quoted me the trade in price.

Cool Quick Update

Yesterday they changed the trade in value slightly from $26,500 to $26,000. Still offered $1,000 below invoice for an 05. Unfortunatley, I wanted blk/blk & they only had carbon gray/ebony so they said that for $2,000 more I could get a blk/blk 2006 RL (1k over invoice).

I went to look @ it @ my local dealer & I am not quite sold on the car yet (have yet to test drive either....) but I told them sell me a 2006 @ the 2005 price & they got a deal.

I figure this will buy me more time to decide.
