G'day from Down Under!
G'day from Down Under!
I'm a newbie from Melbourne, Australia and the proud owner of our version of the TSX, the Honda Accord Euro.
I have noticed some differences in the TSX and the Euro, most notably that you guys get Sat Nav in the TSX! It looks like we also get different wheels, color packages and interior specs.
I have a black pearl Accord Euro with beige leather interior with woodgrain trim. Black with black leather is not available down here...black leather (with black woodgrain trim) is only available on red, blue, and silver cars.
The Accord Euro also comes with 8 spoke 17in alloy wheels as standard. Also standard is a sunroof, and 6 stack in dash CD player.
I was wondering if anyone had purchased the Sat Nav aftermarket and fitted it to their TSX...if this is possible, I would like to look into doing it!
If anyone knows of any other differences between the TSX and the Accord Euro, let me know!

We also have the sun (moon) roof and 6 CD changer in the dash in North America.......... Another difference is that we have the Acura logo and you have the Honda logo. Either way, I think both types are awesome!!
G-day, mate. Have you searched the threads for "Euro Accord"? You can find lots of bits and pieces that way. For example:

Say hello to Mike Kear in Sydney, if you're in the neighborhood.

The biggest difference I've noticed is that you guys get Sat Nav...and also the colours available seem to be different...or more precisely, you guys get to choose exterior and interior colour combinations...we get beige leather with black and white cars, and black leather with the rest, no choice in the matter.
There is also a base model which comes with velour trim in black and beige (no sunroof, 16in alloys instead of 17in, no fog lamps, no electric/heated seats).
I think in terms of performance our cars are the same...the difference I suppose is we have access to Japanese imports (they drive on the same side of the road as we do!)...and they are more powerful.
Dunno if you guys are aware of the differences...in Japan, cars are generally more powerful as they have higher octane fuel...our regular unleaded is 95 Octane, (I think yours is less than this...87 Octane isnt it?) and our premium is 98 Octane. In Japan, regular unleaded is 98 Octane !! Cars are tuned down for export so you find that all Japanese cars are good for an extra 10-20hp (or 20-30 KW in our language!)

hey, welcome to the sight... Personally I have a non navi TSX, and Use the Majellian Road Mate, when needed, plugs right into ur AC outlet, and has a suction cup to mount on the windsheild... works pritty well... U guys have the Accord Interior, where as we have the Inspire interior
Here for somereason they took the Inspire, gave it the accord interior, and called it an accord....then took the accord exterior, stuck the inspire interior in it, and called it a TSX

So we have Honda Accord Euro (your TSX but without the SatNav option - interior is otherwise the same) and Honda Accord V6 (your Honda Accord with the Inspire interior ie leather, sunroof, electric everything...)
Confusing isnt it?
I was reading about Darwin, Australia the other day, just for the hell of it, because it sounds exotic. Then I thought about "what would it be like if I ever moved there?" and sure enough, first thing I checked is if they have a Honda dealership (they do) and how much the Euro Accord is. It's pretty expensive compared to the TSX in Canada, but I'd still have to get it.
Must be fun to take out on the desert/jungle roads they have there.

octane ratings do not mean anything unless you tell us how they are calculated. RON, MON, or PON
as for the JDM version of the Euro R... it's a different engine, hence more powerful.

Either way AussieHondaBoy, welcome to AZ and congrats on your "TSX"!!

Yeah, it sounds confusing that you guys have two completely different looking (and driving) cars from Honda and both badged as Accord!
You guys missed my point...
In Japan, the higher octane fuel means they can have higher output engines as standard on their cars...
I know it is a different engine, its a 2.0 as opposed a 2.4...
I'll give you an example...I used to have a Nissan 200SX (Sylvia in Japan). It is a 2.0liter turbo charged coupe, rear drive, 6 spd manual (you guys dont get them in the US - 14.5 1/4 mile standard, won car of the year here in 2000). In Oz, they came out with 147KW (do the math to convert to HP, a bit more than the TSX) but in Japan, the same engine came with 185kw!!! That's over 40kw with the exact same engine!!!
The difference is in the tuning primarily due to the higher octane fuel they have...you can run the engine harder without damaging it. It is the same with all Japanese cars...their local versions are always more powerful.
In the case of the Accord Euro R, obviously it has a different engine, but it begs the question why isn't it available anywhere else???
Also, Darwin is not that exotic...far from it actually...look up Cairns or Port Douglas

No... I'm not missing your point.
93 octane gas in the USA is about the same as the higher octane gas found in europe. In the USA we use a different method for calculating octane. In Europe another method is used. The point is that they are about the same.
As for the Euro R engine not being here. It has nothing to do with the octane gas found here... and more to do with will it sell here and insurance cost... etc.

Everything you wanted to know about Octane and then some can be found here: http://www.csgnetwork.com/octaneratecalc.html
