G35 Owner Jealous of my TSX
I have a co-worker that recently (in the last month) purchased a G35 Sedan for $37k out the door.
I purchased an used TSX last week and parked next to his car.
He was comparing what is better or worse compared to his G35 then at the end, he asked me how much I paid and I said "I bought it used $23.7k, but if brand new.. it'd be about $28~30k depending on Nav or not" and he was in shock.
He kept mumbling " 28k?!!... holy... ****... 28k... ho..ly... ****.. only 28k...."
There's no comparison between G35 and TSX.. G35 > TSX for sure , but from his facial expression and words.. it was obvious that he felt he would've rather paid $28~30k for what the TSX has/looks.
Ofcoarse I looked serious, but inside I was smiling.

drop a comptech SC on the TSX and it's still cheaper!
TSX's still a better car then the G35 sedan. the G35 sedan is no way better looking then our car. the G35 coupe on the other hand looks hot, imo.

IMO, the G35 Sedan is also a great bang-for-buck vehicle. Styling is each own's choice, but I still think the G35 offers great things for its cost.
I agree, it depends on what the buyer is really after. If it's power that he's looking for, he wouldn't mind spending an extra $10K to get a more powerful V6 engine.
Personally, I don't like the G35 Sedan's styling at all.

Yeah, I would also like to see the expression on your coworker's face...
Incidentally, my brother has a 04 G35 sedan 6MT... he LIKES the TSX alot too, and he actually played some part into my going for the TSX before the BMW E90 even came out! Just don't ask me why he didn't go for a TSX himself instead
One thing he really admires on the TSX is how silky smooth our 6MT is. I've driven his and man, while the 3.5L V6 does have loads of torque and power, the 6MT mated to it doesn't make it that fun to drive. Oh the clutch is also hard to deal with too...
EDIT: oh, by the way, I am not impressed with the G35 sedan's styling (both ext. and int.) either... too bulky looking for me...

The fact that the G35 didn't have rear folding seats and the interior finish being inferior to the TSX put the nail in the coffin.

I totally agree.

I love my TSX, but I just love looking at the G35 too! I should have test driven it before I bought my TSX.... LOL

Since the G35 is RWD, I expected that when I stop at a stop sign and then really step on the gas while making a left/right turn, the steering would be much more stable because the front wheels wouldn't be also pulling the car. To my surprise I didn't notice a difference.
Suspension-wise, the G35 also felt softer and more disconnected from the road than the TSX. It just had that "big car" feeling that you don't get with the TSX or the 3-series. It was more like an Accord.
Also, a huge factor was that the AT sportshift on the TSX is far, FAR better than the G35 sport shift. First of all the G35 shifter has bad ergonomics, you push it away from the driver to shift where it's less comfortable and it has a button in the way. Also it shifts for you when it feels like, while the TSX one only shifts for you when it makes total sense.
Hope this helps.

While the G35s VQ engine is quite impressive, dynamically speaking, the TSX actually feels sportier because of the suspension.

After driving my bro's G35 (sedan) then my TSX, vice versa... both 6MT, it instantly contrasts that the G35 drives like a "boat".
