PLEASE DON'T KILL ME!!!!!!!!!

so killer, SHUT UP!
I know u all too well
FDL pipe down too

ok, so after all my time here I might be ready to get my new TSX
My car is 9 years old, but is in great condition w/ only 47k miles
I can easily keep it another year

My question is: do we thing TSX will be seeing more power by the 05 release. That is the main and only thing I would like to see. It would be worth the wait for me as well. What are the odds?

talk to me people

I'm not sure it needs more power; power is not what's holding me back right now.

I'd look for things like satellite radio, heated mirrors, auto-tiltdown-reverse mirrors, memory driver's seat, power passenger seat, autoleveling on the HID's to be coming down the pike in the future, though.

I'd sure appreciate satellite radio and heated mirrors, and I'm guessing they will come for 05 (XM may come sooner).

But more power is not a concern for me.

My current car is 13 years old and has 108,000 miles, and I could technically keep driving it for many more years with few problems. (It's an Accord.)

And I agree with the other dude (forgot name). The TSX doesn't need more HP. In fact, I would be perfectly content if it had the Accord's underrated 160HP engine, which is essentially the same engine as the TSX's engine (both have the K24 engine).

The other goodies sound nice, like Satellite radio and auto-tilting headlights, but they would drive up the costs.

I wouldn't wait for more HP, though. What would cause me to pause would be news of an additional body style or a color that I preferred.

low end torque would do so much for power

other things aren't a big deal to me

heh, a hp upgrade from honda, on the same generation car, eh... i dun think so. But i could be wrong

I do think the 05 TSX will be rid of the rattles since the 04 TSX owners have complained about them, me being one of them. There will probably be some very minor changes in the interior.

If you're a die-hard TSX fanatic then get it now. 200 I-4 does not seem like a lot of power, but it is. For this little sedan, it's just enough power (maybe a little intake and headers would push it a little more). If low end torque is that important than you can consider the A4.

In the long run, if a Type S comes out (at all), then you will be paying more for it, where you can probably get a supercharger or some sort of mod that can run as good as the type S and you would have had your car 2 years earlier.

GO FOR IT!

1987-1988 Integra, Accord
1991-1992 Integra, Accord

got more power; but, yes, that was 12 yrs ago, and I don't recall any mid-generation power increases since.

EDIT: Of course, Honda/ Acura produced such bland crap from 1996-2001 that I hardly noticed anything they did.

I think the chances by the car getting more hp/torque is like .0001%. No one changes the engine of the car just a year after the car has been released. I don't think it would be a smart thing to do. As for other features that's a maybe.

The current TSX doesn't need more power and most likely won't get any more. It is possible that we'll see an optional engine in a year or so (Type S or wotnot).

If Acura wants the TSX to truly compete with the 3 series and the A4 then it will most certainly need engine choices. The TSX fits nicely with the 325 and A4 1.8T but for the car to be taken seriously in this market, they will need an engine to match wits with the 330 and A4 3.0. We'll just have to wait and see.

Didn't Toyota just do that with the Camry? If I remember right, the revamped 2002 Camry had a 192 hp V6 but when they realized how severely underpowered it was compared to the competition, they boosted it to 210hp for 2003 (still underpowered).

In contrast, the TSX is not underpowered in its market and will most likely not get a boost to the current engine configuration this generation. (again, that's not to say they won't release another engine option)

Very true but it was only due to severe competition from the accord having upgraded the engine greatly. As for the TSX it is a completely new brand. It is the european accord but still very new here. Like you said there might be a type-s but not next year im guessing. I know though as the 3series replaces its engine with about 260hp then a type-s is in order. However until at least 2 years im guessing only new features will be added imo.

I was just pointing out that you said it doesn't happen when it just did. But I do agree with you. We seem to be on the exact same page here.

I think the TSX is plenty quick right now. The only thing lacking is torque..especially down low but with a 6MT or even sport shift you can keep things hot and the car can really move. (although with a couple people in the car things definately bog down).

I think the TSX will definately get more power... but not in '05. Its just too soon. If the TSX sells very well then I believe Honda will raise the bar..but not for another 3 or 4 years.

If you really need a car within the next year... getting an '04 TSX now isnt a bad idea at all. In fact I was practically in the same boat and I pulled the trigger.
