Fog lights

OK, my cheap non-Acura fog light lenses have both cracked. Started small and got worse, which seems to me like it might be heat-related. I had some protective film on for a while, and it got too hot/burnt. So, I'm wondering if it would be better to have an HID conversion that has lower wattage?

I've read some comments about HID conversions and how inappropriate they are, but will it be that "different" in how it throws the light from the fog light? I can understand the problem with converting a headlight without a cut-off, but I'm wondering how offensive it is to convert the fogs, coz it sounds cool to me.

I've already ordered a replacement fog light set... thankfully I won't have to re-wire!

I've been using HID fogs with a protective film and have not experienced any burns. Also, my fogs have not cracked either. The film really helps

But does the HID conversion have too much glare? Is the cutoff adequate? I like the idea of having cooler lights and more light output, but not if it's too bright for other traffic.

my factory fogs cracked, so i replaced the lense with lexan polycarbonate and applied laminx yellow film.

because of the winter here and a gapping hole, the reflector is tarnished, so i took some paint and repainted the housing

I got some DDM tuning HID 3000k (dont mind the dirtiness)

here are some night shots

As for glare, IMO its too low on the ground to blind anyone on they road.......it was only glaring when i pretty much looked at the fogs at eye level.

Thanks

Thanks for the responses. I dunno, I'd just as soon stick with normal halogens, if the fog housing wouldn't get hot and crack again. I went ahead and got replacement housings, though.
