First Accident with my baby. 05TSX

Well it happened. I park miles away from other cars in parking lots, I take the best car of my car, and this is how i'm repaid: I GET REAR ENDED. So heres the story. I'm on Rt 16 in Somerville MA for those of you around the area, you know this road is two lanes on each side and is narrow as F*@K. Well i go around a bend and there is a car parked in the right hand lane. So i slow down pretty quickly and start to move over to the other lane, then I look in my rear view mirror and see someone coming very quickly. I try to switch into gear as quick as i can to get going but nope. Hit from behind. We pull over and i'm angry as all hell and wanna kill the guy but i kept my cool. IT was some dude from ehc Czech Republic here on a three month visa with a rental car. GREAT. I called the state police and he came down and did a crash report. Now my baby is ruined. I nkow the body shop will probably do a great job on it and it will look like new, but i will still know what happend and that kills me. I was on the phone all mornign wiht insurance people and i'm pissed. I'm gonna leave it there.

Here is a pic off my cell phone

you are saying first as if it was a celebration and that you are expecting more.
Hopefully its the first and last.
Glad it wasnt any worse.

Ya i've been on the phone with insurance companies all day. So has anyone heard of diminished value. Ive been reading up on it since now my car will be worth less and its still relitivly new, the at fault guys insurance is supposed to pay me the difference of the value before the accident and value after it being fixed. Any advice would be great.

I'm a little confused. You slow way down, put the car in neutral, and change lanes without looking? Is this really what you did? And how did he get a rental car...did he have a drivers license?

I was slowing down and was in like 4th or something. People where coming in the left lane so i depressed the clutch to switch b/c i was almost stopped. I saw him coming in my rear view mirror so i went to switch into first to get going fast but that didn't happen fast enough.

The guy had a visa so i'm assuming you can rent a car with a visa. I dont know

Well, optimistically speaking, all that the dude jacked up was the bumper..... seems like an easy repair as long as the bumper crushed, and isnt in the wheel well. At most a bumper and trunk lid replacement =/. Hopefully your car still drives completely straight after the fix!! G'luck with your car ^__^

I don't follow, did you cut in front of him, into his lane, and he hit you, or did he rear end you in the lane you were in behind the stopped car?

just damage to the plastic bumper? why so heartbroken. that shouldn't effect the value of your car at all. it's not like it's an R title now or anything.

^^^ Looks like the trunk was also pushed in (look at the tail lights), but still not as bad as it could have been.

missed that. but a new trunk would also not effect the resale of the car. only structural damage should.
