Do you still get the ground noise when the Ipod is not plugged into the Belkin?

If you unplug the belkin, let you let it run off of the IPOD battery, and you still get noise then that means that the power source is your problem.

You may need an inline filter. Most portable electronics that are designed properly have an inline filter built in. The 12V plug in the TSX is an unfiltered source, so try installing an inline filter. I did this for my RCA Lyra RD2780 to eliminate my video interference.

You can get one at radio shack and it goes for $15.99. It looks like a GLI, but it has power and ground hooked up to it. You just hook it up in series to the 12V plug inside the center console. It has standard plugs on it, so just buy some of the "quick disconnect" connectors they sell at radio shack and plug the filter in directly between the original connectors and the 12V plug. So basically hook it up in series with the plug.

To get to this plug, you do not need to remove the center transmission cover (I know this is scary for many) just lift up the rubber mat at the bottom of the center console and take out the screws next to the 12v plug. Then the plug and the whole plastic piece should pop right off for you. There you go. Check out this thread for more info:

I did some more testing last night and I'm suspicious that I have a faulty Ground Loop Isolator. I unplugged it from the Belkin charger, so the only elements I was dealing with were the SNHOND3 and the GLI. I turned the car on (there is only noise when the car is on) and unplugged the GLI from the SNHOND3 -- complete silence. I then plugged the GLI back in and I got an instant buzzing sound. I found that if I twisted the "barrel" of the GLI, the sound would change and if I held it just right, the buzzing would go away. This makes me wonder if there is a short in the GLI.

Another interesting thing -- the buzz is very loud when the GLI is NOT plugged in to anything, but as soon as I plug it into the Belkin charger, the noise volume drops considerably (but it is still there). I was even able to muffle the sound of the buzz by putting my fingers over the 1/8" stereo jack at the end.

I am going to go to RadioShack later today and exchange my GLI to see if that is the problem. If not, I will look into getting an inline filter as Tsx536 suggested.

 

OK, I found a workaround for my supposedly faulty Ground Loop Isolator. I discovered that the buzzing would change depending on where I moved the "barrel" of the GLI within the space behind the storage bin. Some places would cause a lot of buzzing, but I found that if I shoved it behind the "not an ashtray" compartment and angled it just right, the buzzing would stop. I tried wrapping the GLI in electrical tape to try to insulate it more, but this had no effect.
Since I am never moving things around behind the storage compartment, I am hoping that the GLI will stay in place and the buzzing will stay away. Has anyone else noticed buzzing depending on where you put the GLI behind the storage bin?

Either way, I hope this is helpful for anyone else dealing with this problem.

 

I too had noticed a hum if the cables weren't in the correct place. I suppose someone could surround it with foam for insulation.

 

I believe that it's emitted by the Airbag ECU (the silver box on the hump with the yellow wires coming out of it...)

The GLI has an inductor in it which makes it sucseptible to picking up EMI...

 

For those of you who do not want to modify the SNHOND3 adapter mentioned in this thread, then I would buy the Bus Cable 2 Port adapter along with the Blitzsafe adapter. With the Blitzsafe adapter you don't have to modify anything. This will allow you to still keep the non FM-modulated (bus cable) factory XM radio (for 2005 TSXs, 2004-2005 TLs, and 2004-2005 Accords with XM) and also add an AUX input so that you can play and other source that you want to. Please read more of the thread, most car stereo dealers should be able to install this professionally. Of course that will vary on where you live.

 

The only hard part is ripping open your storage compartment and center console. I was able to do the first and had the wire coming out from under the passenger side dash no problem. I later got the wires rerouted to come through the center storage armrest bin for 20 bucks.

Edit - also, I know of this place in Long Beach NY can professionally do it for you for about 50 bucks (that's what I was quoted), no GLI included.

 

hi all... i have already installed this in my tsx but my friend with an 04 accord with navi is having problems finding the connector on the back of his headunit. is it in the same location as in our car or does he need to remove the entire headunit? thanks in advance =)

 

I would think it's same or very similar. Try using a small mirror to get a better look...

I have a 04 TSX with NAV and would liek to hookup my IPDD. What happens if I just get the Std SNDHOND3 and thne plug into the back of the unit in the trunk. There seems to be an extra adapter back there which is male and am curious if I can just use that. Has anyone setup with steering wheel controls and if so what did you buy and use?

Not sure what you mean by plug in the trunk as the DVD/Navi disc is back there and I don't think it has any relationship to the Radio/CD player functions other than the Navi information. If you want the steering wheel controls for your iPod you need to purchase the IceLink along with the SNHOND3 and applicable adaptor mod for your Navi.

 

there is a Blitzsafe one. Does that work???? According to Lojam they say the SNDHOND3 only works with NON Navi and the Blitzsafe works with only the Accord.

Also where does the Icelink fit in here and where does it plug in?

Has anyone had any success rigging the SNHOND3 with the 08A31-0E1-010 harness on a 2005 Navi/XM HU? I heard people doing it but the sound was very faint when trying to listen to XM. Any ideas?

I'm wanting to know about this too as I have an 05 TSX. I heard to use the SNHOND3, you would have to disconnect XM because it takes up the port on the HU. I read somewhere there might be a Y-harness that does the same thing as the 08A31-0E1-010 harness, but forgot where I saw it.

BTW rbf351, did you receive the SNHOND3 yet? I sent it out Tues.

Well i installed mine in less then 1 hr this weekend.
Denison is actually coming out with one specifically for the tsx which im assuming is just the sony one with thier own version of the SHOND adapter.
But i purchased the Sony Ice Link and i already had a shond adapter and it works great.
I also purchased and did the install for my fiances mazda 3 and it was just as easy.
The ice link is awesome when you get used to it as you can control the icepod and most functions from the factory radio.
If only our radio had cd text If anyone needs a tutorial or pics let me know

I have had problems with the humming noise on my XM radio, and I've noticed that it has to do with the "black box" Blitzsafe/SNHOND3 adapter. I've noticed that if I move the adapter away from the airbag ECU, then the noise either goes away or is significantly reduced. The airbag ECU is the metal box, inside the center console on the floor where the yellow connectors are going into. You can't miss it. It's torwards the front of the car on the floor inside the center console.

 

Unfortunately, it seems that with the TSX 2005 (with the XM radio factory equipped), there is no way to utilize ANY adapter, unless XM is disconnected (or so Logjam electronics informs me). Anyone else has some luck?

Can anybody who spliced the SHOND3 for TSX Nav tell me if they've experienced any loss in functionality with their car?

Has anybody been able to get a 2005 (XM) with NAV working with aux input?

 

So am I to belive that I have to choose between XM (which I'm begining to get addicted to) and hard wiring my Ipod?

I thought I would be able to disable the changer maybe, is that the case?

BTW, bought my NBP 6-speed parchment three weeks ago, yada yada yada. First non SAAB in three cars, yada yada yada, love it yada.

 

This is frustrating, there must be a way to get the 05 folks to have their cake and eat it too.

This thing even has inputs for a rear camera/steering wheel controls/vehicle display interface for ipod information/i mean the list goes on here... I'm still trying to figure out if it will be compatible with our navi TSX's

Well, I have read about that interface and the connector I need to plug in my navy of the Accord 05 w/navy car, but the question is, where can I find it in Europe, cause logjam shell policies is only for USA.
