Yepppp, not so many curvy mountain roads in Indiana, but at least Southern Indiana has some nice valleys and hills. We'll enjoy being back and being reunited with the TSX! sniff sniff

Safe travels, S.
BTW, slight correction to my above post: Removing the shifter surround/cupholder gives you access to the two REAR screws of NOT AN ASHTRAY, not the two front screws.

Yeah, there's good and bad of going to Indiana. As far as my car is concerned, it's all bad ;-) (salt, ice, ummm...weather at all!) I appreciate the wishes!!! …back to the topic at hand: The new BMW iPod kit really seems like a customized ICE-Link, if anyone's curious.

Noise issues
Any idea why I am getting a fuzzy static type sound on some of my songs? Im using the SNHOND3 to Radio Shack GLI to Belkin adapter/charger to iPod setup. I tried moving the GLI around to try and get rid of any possible interference, but still got the static. I don't get the noise when I play CD;s, so I know it's either the iPod setup or the actual song files.

I tried changing the EQ on the iPod and that has helped somewhat, but I think it's just certain songs that I have downloaded. That or my front tweeters might be slightly blown. I only hear the noise on certain rock songs, so who knows.

You might also try ripping a song to AIFF and trying that, after you make sure the sound is clear on another machine. AIFF wouldn't have any compression noise. If you still hear it, is it a hiss or hum? I've usually found that I can have my 1st gen iPod at max volume and have no distortion, but when I use the cassette adapter in my wife's car, I have to turn it down.

Well, I think it's just the song files. Seeing as how it only happens on certain songs, and only a few of them....that must be the case. Thanks for all the help and suggestions though!

FM Modulator has gone bad
Hi everyone. I have a 2004 Accord with navigation, and I know the Accord and TSX are somewhat similar. I know the Accord has XM radio, and I just bought the TV tuner unit from avelectronic so that my wife can watch movies on the navigation screen. I hooked up the FM modulator to the TV tuner, and when I try to tune to any station to get sound, I get horrible, horrible static. I hate this. I still want to keep my XM radio capabilities, but I also want to get rid of the horrible, static sound. I'm going on a long trip this weekend, can anyone help me? Is there an adapter out there I can use to plug directly into the back of the factory radio?

installing an aftermarket mp3/cd player in 04 Accord EX (with 6cd in dash)
I am trying to fit my aftermarket mp3/cd player to my 04 Accord EX.
(non -navi, non -XM)
I have the 6 cd changer. I took the pocket out and all.
Now I can see a white connector in the bottom of the 6 cd player ( I
am guessing that is where the 08A31-0E1-010 Bus cable goes for the
Aux).
My aftermarket mp3/cd player is a blaupunkt mp3000
(http://www.crutchfield.com/S-63hTD6f...sp?i=023MP3000)
My question is that: Can I cut open the Honda Bus Cable
(08A31-0E1-010) and hook the wires to my aftermarket player ? I mean
does the Honda Bus Cable provide power and connections to speakers and
all ? Also will by 6 cd player Aux button automatically detect the mp3
player after its hooked up ??
thanx much .. appreciate it

If it is anything like the TSX, then no, you can't just splice up a 08A31-0E1-010 cable and have the Aux button work. You'll need the SNHOND3 adapter to plug into that white connector. It will give you rca line in jacks and it will enable the Aux button. If there is nothing already plugged into that white connector on the bottom of the 6cd player, then you won't need the 08A31-0E1-010 cable at all as the SNHOND3 comes with a cable to plug in there.

Thanks jsharper.
As a follow up question.
My mp3 player offers pre-amp out. So I can hook those up the to the SNHOND3 adapter.
But now how do I provide power to the mp3/cd player ??
In case of ipod's you guys jst hook it up using the belkin car adapter and take juice from the lighter.
But in my case how do i get the power ?? (as its like a regular in dash player) (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-9uwZJBY...sp?I=023MP3000)
thanx

There are several places to get power. Look through the threads here about people installing XM radios and stuff. Personally, for my XM radio, I got my switched (ACC) power from the wires going to the cigarette lighter and tapped into a wire on the amplifier harness for constant unswitched power.
#141
Sorry for the following dumb ?
- Whats the diff between switched and unswitched power?
- Does anybody have any links/pics on where to tap in power for an aftermarket stereo ? ( i tried searching bt no luck)
thanx

update
well i just wanted to update that i was wrong about my previous post. The acura mp3 player has an input and an output cable. I plugged in the shond3 into the mp3 player then the mp3 player into the audio unit. And voila, it works =). Now I'm going to test the nav splicing with the shond3 in conjunction with the mp3 player.. hopefully the nav signal works..

The new Ground Loop Isolator cable from Griffin Technologies could be a good cable to use and allow you to only use one cable, instead of a GLI & RCA audio cable.

Yay! I think I've finally finished my MP3 player addition to the TSX!
So here's the component list:
iRiver iHP-140
Radio Shack Ground Loop Isolator
Radio Shack 3ft 1/8" to stereo RCA
Radio Shack 12V car adapter w/ H plug
Rolls MX22A Mini-Amplifier
Soundgate SNHOND3
Now I can play the iHP-140 at 12/40 and the stereo at 15/40 and have it loud enough without killing either the battery or the stereo.
And all of it fits neatly inside center console and I can even put a box of Kleenex in there as well.
Well, except for the remote, which dangles beside the parking brake, where I can see the song and control the player.

Revenent: I wasn't familiar with the Rolls MX22A so I went googlin and found this:
http://www.rolls.com/data/mx22man.pdf
If that is your unit, the schematic in that PDF indicates that it is a mono mixer.. It has left/right in and out, but the first thing it does is combine left/right of the inputs into one mono signal. the two outpus both carry the same signal.

In any case, somebody bought me the MX22A, so I can't seem ungrateful.

that is pretty funny. i just did that. bought the base 12v plugin at radio shack. bought an adapter to fit in my player, the closest fitting one, none of them did fit properly in the end. i have the first gen nomad jukbox player, it was made to only run off batteries, and has a wall jack to charge the batts. kinda oldschool. nothing will work for it tho. i read the charger and it says 12V-- 1.25A. its the only thing that will make my player even turn on so far. so i am going to return the radio shack peice in the morning.
i looked on CREATIVE's site, they have a car adapter specifically for this player, i may have to buy it but i have a feeling itll be hard to find.
thanks so far for the help, even trying

This thread has been great! Thanks to all of the posts, I successfully installed the SNHOND3 in my TSX along with a Ground Loop Isolator from Radio Shack.
However, I STILL get a whining noise through the speakers that is directly related to the RPMs--the pitch increases as I accelerate.
I have a 4G iPod hooked up with the Belkin Auto Kit so I have the RCA-->1/8" stereo jack (from the SNHOND3/GLI) plugged directly into the DC power adapter. I've played around with unplugging one of the 2 RCA cables and the noise gets a lot worse. I can't hear the whine if I'm listening to louder music, but it is very annoying with softer music or audiobooks.
Do I have a faulty Ground Loop Isolator???

Hmm, that device is unusual because you plug into the power adapter. I would see if you can test with someone's conventional setup before you can determine this. Maybe someone with that adapter can tell, but it sounds like the ground loop is still there, which means it could be the adapter or another loop.

Good point about the second ground loop, schalliol. I was thinking I only had one ground loop, which the Ground Loop Isolator should solve, but maybe I have two:
Loop 1: RCA cable through SNHOND3 (removed by Ground Loop Isolator)
Loop 2: Belkin DC charger plugged into center console
Here is the Belkin charger I am using:
http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProdu...duct_Id=149006
Does anyone else have a similar setup with a solution? I suppose I could just plug the 1/8" stereo jack directly in to my iPod to remove the second loop, but then I lose the charging capability of the Belkin dock connector.

Well, I can't imagine that they'd create a loop with a product like this and then sell it. Perhaps PM the user on here that had this product as well.

I have iPod Mini using the same Belkin charger and I get the same exact noise. Without fumbling with GLI, I use the iPod directly connected to headphone out. I only use Belkin charger to charge the iPod when needed... I know, waste of charger's amplifying capabilities but it's easy and works for me.
I also have CreativeLabs ZenXtra MP3 player, but I don't get the noise like iPod... it must be something with Belkin charge+audio line out. but I'm not an expert.
Sorry, I couldn't be helpful.
