Does the ETM have any protocol information on the data bus interfaces for our car?

 

Which data bus are you interested in? The Navi systems?

Check the a/v section, there's someone working on the navi touchscreen databus right now.

 

For the navigation bus the Acura uses GA-NET II, which is nothing more than NEC's IEBus protocol. That is the project that I am currently in the middle of over here: AC's Touchscreen Interface. I have also started a wikipedia article about the IEBus here: wikipedia.org

If its the engine stuff you are looking for then that is over CAN. There is a LOT of information about that on the internet and a quick search on google can get you started.

 

thanks.- basically i'm looking to see what would be involved in writing a software package similar to the HDS, and hopefully a bit more- maybe tap into the '06 MFD etc, add security features, etc.

 

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the HDS or the MFD? Too many acronyms to keep track of these days.

 

sorry i work in engineering and our language is either TLAs or off the FLAL.
HDS: Honda Diagnostic System- the system the dealer hooks up to your car to do diagnostics, register keys, reset settings, etc.
MFD: multi-function display- the thing on the gauge cluster that tells you fun info like "gas cap loose, and check emissions system", or your gas mileage and temperature
TLA: three-letter-acronym
FLAL: four-letter acronym list
