Yeah I wish I had one of these a week ago...

As an update, I was driving back from the bars July 3rd and I got tagged by a cop with a laser. My Valentine 1 alerted me to the laser signal, but by that point it was too late. He got me doing 67 in a 40 (on an empty road), which unfortunately in CT is an automatic traffic misdemeanor. That means I will most likely get 6 points on my license and a HUGE fine.

What I've always known (but taken for granted until now) is that NO radar detector out there can protect you from a laser. The only way to avoid cops (besides going the speed limit) is to get a laser scrambler/diffuser, which I plan to get in the near future since it seems that more and more cops are switching over to lasers these days.

On what...the ticket or the K40?

I've seen them around for $5-600, which doesn't sound bad to me considering how much $$$ it could potentially save me in the long run.

ive always heard the valentine was top of the line in terms of signaling you to slow your roll.
There are a few reviews online that compared the 8500 x50 vs the valentine v1 with the 1.8 firmware. They said that the range on the valentine isn't as far as the escort but yeah the age old opinions on which is better will wage on for sure. I think if I can find that report...then I'll post the link to it. I think as radars go though...you can't go wrong with either...

V1 Hardwire

I just got my V1. The best and easiest hardwire is to the rear view mirror. It is the simplest hardwire that I found on this forum. Took less than 1 hour start to finish. Forget about going to the fusebox it is a complete waste of time for the V1 hardwire. Trust me.
