I think its just the car reading the "chip" inside the key.
dealer cut me a key cause, they couldnt locate my second key, but couldnt program it. i tried to start the car with the new key, but wouldnt start, just keeps on clicking.

Try ground wires.

I had same problem. it is gone after adding ground wires. I took those off recently b/c it is going back to dealer for EVAP error, and the hard start comes back.

DO ASK ME HOW IT WORKS OR HOW THAT HELPS, BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW.

What lag are you speaking of? Do you mean a lag between when you hit the gas pedal and get go go go? or when you are starting up the car?

On my tsx i have to turn it over for about 2-6 seconds before it starts...

I think your perception of time is a little sloth-like.

I noticed the same thing. We' ve discussed it here before as well.

I figured it was the tiny battery in the TSX. But I think the concensus was that it was because of the high compression.

I've never driven a car with compression this high before, so I cant really say for sure. But I do know that the car takes a second or 2 longer to turn over than other cars I have driven.

we'll i'm sure he's exagerating. 6 seconds is REALLY long. Not even worth asking about on here, I'd be straight to the dealer.

Honda car engines typically takes longer to start because of a smaller, weaker starter, compared to other cars brands. I guess Honda engineers wanted to save weight, etc. My TSX takes a good 2 seconds to start, whether the engine is warm or not. GM engines, however, turns in a snap ( < 1 sec ) ..probably because the starter is bigger.

Did you check the gas level? When gas is near empty, it takes little extra time to start the engine.

It's the new engine. It gets better with time. At 17K miles, I have no problem turning the car on.

It gets better as the car is broken in. I also noticed that it didnt take as long after I got my optima yellow top deep cycle battery.

It's one of the TSX's characteristics. Nothing's wrong with your car, so smile!

weak starter or low battery generally cause slowed ignition.
