Talking Engaging 1st gear while rolling

I have about 15,000 mile on my TSX now and I have noticed that it is easier to engage first when I am rolling now, then It was when the trany was new.

Has anyone else noticed this?

We don't know. It's probably a snychro issue, but it seems to go away with age. Before I had to be completely stopped before the box would let me get it in first, but now I can do it from about 5mph down.

You probably ground down the teeth a bit after a long time so its easier now. Hondas just aren't meant to be shifted into first gear, they all grind.

yea i had the same problem. it's still kinda hard to get into first when rolling, i usually just keep it in second if i'm moving over 5mph, you can rev match (add some gas) if you're boggin

Alright ... I'll ask a dumb question ... why are you guys trying to get in to first when you are rolling? I really can't think of a good reason ...

Because I don't feel like lugging the heck out of second (or abusing my clutch in order to *not* lug) when I need to start moving again from a slow roll (stop sign, parking lot, etc.).

ya, when racing you definately want to be able to downshift into first.

Same as cluthpeformer said. I just want to be able to start in first if im rolling to a stop light or stop sign. Its not like were talking about going into 1st when were strolling down the road, but when the car is inching forward and you put it in 1st, it grinds...

In racing they call it lazy foot. Happens mostly with rookies and new clutches. Basically your foot isn't all the way down on the cluctch.

I guess I am special ... cause I have no problem starting from a roll with the TSX in 2nd from like 5-10mph .... 1.5-2K RPMS. I much prefer this especially with a small I4 car. Much smoother .... and no I don't have to ride the clutch to do it
