End of Lease - 2008 TSX - Purchase and warranty price good
Hi,
My lease is ending on a 2008 TSX navi. I am looking to buy the car to own. The payoff price I got at the dealer is 16355.34 + tax.
Now my question is the dealer says that I have to get it certified by them to get the CPO (certified pre-owned) warranty and so forth. They are looking to charge me $600.00 for the certification inspection and then an additional $1995.00 for the CPO warranty. Both of these seem exsessive to me, is either of these prices negotiable and what are the typical costs?

it's a car-drive it
since you have owned (leased) this car since new and know how it was driven and maintained why do you want to have it certified. I own a 06 tsx, bought new 11/06. I did not get the extended warranty. The factory warranty expired when the car was almost 18 months old (50,000 miles). My car now has 121,000+problem free miles.

I bought a CPO car, (mainly because it was the only 6MT in the condition and color I wanted in the entire country--I had a friend check it out, bought it and had it shipped.) Sure, the CPO helped me feel better about buying a used car that I knew little about. (Turns out the car has been magnificent and was well-maintained.)
But you know who owned the car and how it was treated. You also know how incredibly reliable these cars are. I'd say the purchase price sounds great...and the dealer is probably expecting to make up for it with the CPO price. --Don't let them.

Just skip the warranty. You know the car's history and few things go wrong with the TSX.
I felt more comfortable buying it with the CPO warranty because I know nothing about the previous owner...
