I've never read that there's any effect on the windows, just make sure to be careful removing the rear tint. You don't want to accidentally scrape off the grid defroster connections. If you do, I believe you can purchase some stuff to repatch the places you accidentally removed. I'm sure one of the tint guys in this forum can give you some professional input though.

Why you retinting?

i asked them about moleskin and they don't know what it is. maybe you can help me because i'm not too sure what it is either except that it helps prevent scratches on your tint. like who makes it, where is it applied, etc. does it go by another name?

i call if moleskin, felt lining, weather striping, window liner, and so on until the person realizes what i'm talking about. if that fails: "you know, the lining that goes between the window and the door to remove water or dirt when the window goes up and down...." for some reason, i'm always tempted to speak slower and louder.

If they don't know what it is, they shouldn't be in the business and you shouldn't be taking business to them.

It's a VERY common solution to a VERY common problem that all quality tint shops know how to deal with.

The fact that they didn't know this and mention it from the start suggests that they aren't that great.

If it's only 1 window or any window but the rear, easily can be remove. After removing, just use soap & water and new razor blade to scrape of any glue. No effect on factory window what so ever...if its removing the rear window tint, I would not recommend this since most likely it will remove the defrost lines. I would make a claim and get new windows with your insurance.

I used to detail cars and I have removed tint as well......be sure to spray plenty of soapy water on the windows if you scrap with a razor, otherwise you could scratch your glass and have a way more serious problem. If you can find this stuff called "basic H" (not sure who makes it) it works really well. BTW, I wouldn't touch the rear window with a razor at all.
