The effects of acid rain

How does acid rain harm the finish? If you wash the car regularly will this get rid of the dirt from the rain? I tend to wipe down my car after it rains and it is amazing how much dirt there is. Also, is spotting a problem for the paint, if it is washed away within a few days?

acid rain tends to affect the paint noticeably after prolonger exposure to it, depending on the ph of the rain and the age of the paint. however, most owners don't experience the problem if the car is washed and cleaned regularly. i suggest that if you encounter acid rain, try to wash it ALL off as soon as possible and keep your car sheltered as much as possible as well. spotting from hard water is way better than spotting from acid rain.

also, make sure the car usually has a quality coating of wax/protectant on it. acuras hae been getting some flack for the paint quality on these boards, so maybe you'll get a lot of tips for maintenance.
