easier on the engine in ss mode

is it easier on the transmission if you let off the gas while upshifting in ss mode? I remember someone posting something about its easier on the torque converter or something. sorta like how you do it on a mt.

No. You should maintain the same level of pedal depression through your shift. When in SS mode, it doesn't linger in neutral between shifts - it just shifts. If accelerating hard, keep your foot down and just row through the gears. The shifts will be just as smooth as if you were in auto mode.

I'm thinking that it doesn't make any difference. But, like kyotousa, what do I know..

yea i tried it both ways and your right since it doesn't go through a "neutral" it shouldn't matter. plus if your shifting at 7000 rpm in ss mode in 1st gear if you let off the gas to shift to 2nd you drop way too far out of vtec range. just curious since lately i drive out to some back roads and go wot alot.

There's no need to let up because with the throttle-by-wire the computer actually does it for you. I read that the cpu actualy cuts the fuel slightly during shifts to make them smoother. I believe it does this in auto and ss mode.

If you have the hondata reflash then SS will let you rev to 7600rpm while the computer in normal AT mode will rev limit at 7300. Thats the only SS difference I'm aware of.
