The pollen filter (also called a cabin filter) is behind your glove box. There's a thread on here somewhere detailing how to remove the glove box door and slide out the filter. It's really simple, but the thread helped me understand how. Search on pollen filter or cabin filter, it should still be around.

It's behind your glove-box.

1) remove your contents in your glove-box
2) open your glove-box (all the way)
3) at the top of the hinge, push the hinge inwards towards the centre and pull down
4) once your release the top hinge, the glove box will open 180 degree....and you will see a tray behing the glove-box
5) Try to pry open the release catch on that filter box and pull out towards you
6) You should be able to remove the filter easily and replaced with the new unit. Take note of the indication arrow on the new filter. This will provide the correct orientation to insert into the filter box
7) reverse the intstallation process to complete.

Hope this help

You should first detatch the arm that is on the right side of the glove compartment. Look at it and you'll know how to take it off. Just push it back carefully. Then open the glovebox all the way and press the 2 sides in so that the lid comes down all the way. You'll see the filterbox with 2 catches on the side. Just push them in and pull it out. Notice that the tray is directional, and so is the filter. Replace it in the correct orientation, making sure that the protrusions on the tray line up with the filter so that you avoid any air leakage past the filter.

sorry to bump an old thread, but I have a problem with mine. Before I changed the filter, the glove box opened slowly, after I changed it and attached the glove box clips, the glove box just drops down. Is it anything that could be adjusted?

Did you re-attach the gray plastic arm on the far right side of the glovebox? I believe thats what lowers it slowly.

Sounds like you forgot to reattach the damper arm. Take a closer look at the parts involved and remember what you did to "drop" the door in the first place. Also do a search and you will find a good how-to discussion on this whole issue.

Good luck.

Can someone unify all the pollen filter threads into 1 huge one?

When it's dirty. I remember the first time I changed mine (10,000 miles) - it was very filthy. I believe the manual states to change at 30,000 miles, but I can't imagine what it would be like if I waited until that mileage.

Remember to vacuum and wipe away all the leaves, bugs, etc. left in the filter container before putting the new filter in.

I plan on replacing mine every year regardless of mileage. The a/c seems to run and smells better when the filter is new.

Manual says everyon 30k miles. I do it then and it's not too dirty. It probably depends on where you live, what conditions you drive in, etc.

Try putting an air fresher in there and see what happens.

There are many third party ones. There should be a Honda branded equivalent that is cheaper for the exact same item too.

Yes there are. The Napa Gold filters are I believe made by Wix. You can get them for under $20 ea at a Napa Store or online for about $12 ea., same basic filter. Google it and you'll find a online seller of Wix filters. I paid about $14-15 each delivered. I plan on changing it out every 12 months. The AC and fans work better, it smells better and is less harmful on the lungs. For me it a no brainer.

Which is it?

80292-SEC -A01 OR 80292-SDA -A01

i have seen both part numbers on this site given out and they are both filters for elements, however, they vary in price. the SEC one is 32 bucks and the SDA one is 19 bucks.....

I used http://stores.ebay.com/ToddandNaomi

Cost me $27.20 for two of them to my door...or $13.60 a piece.

They are the Accord replacements made after market. They are not as strong as the stock unit, but seem to work just fine with a 15,000 mile change policy (about 1 year for me). I have bad allergies and cannot tell the difference between these and the Acura filter.

Dust and Pollen Filter for Acura TSX

I purchased this part today at NAPA. It was made by Honda and cost 12.00. I called the Acura dealer and they told me the part would be $53.00 if I purchased it from them and a total of $100 if they installed it. I read the directions posted to this site. It was super easy to install. My current filter had not been changed since 2005. It was really dirty. Overall, it was very easy to install. I am sooo glad I did this myself and saved the money! You can do it too!

I had the Lube Center change mine when I was getting my oil changed (I'm lazy), and it was like $30-35 or so. And here I was thinking that those places were expensive...

On a side note, they changed my engine air filter at a price barely more than what it would have cost me to buy one online! I was surprised, I mean it's not hard to change that but hey, for $1 extra, go ahead.

Lube places tend to use the cheapest stuff they can find so I don't know if their quality is dramatically affected.

Any ways, I buy the Fram Cabin Filter with Arm and Hammer Baking Soda added at Walmart. Now the Arm and Hammer part is probably a gimmick, but the Fram Cabin Filter is really sturdy and heavier than the stock cabing filters. I don't know if sturdier and heavier is better but I know that I got it for 18 bucks.

The smell is mildew growing in the evaporator coil. The way to kill the mildew and the smell is to spray a disinfectant into the air intake (outside just below the windshield). The do-it-yourself variety (available at auto parts stores or maybe Lysol?) may be a bit less effective than the professional application. I don't know what a garage charges to do the treatment. Professionals may know a better place to spray the disinfectant and make it more effective.

This problem will happen again because the evaporator has moisture in it when the air conditioning is running and it stays there after the car is turned off. The way to prevent the smell is to turn off the compressor (AC off) a few minutes before turning off the car. This causes the moisture to be dried out before the fan turns off and mildew will not grow in the evaporator.
