Unhappy D'oh!

So I'm stopped at a yield sign waiting for cars to clear the on-ramp, and WHAM... a crappy '99 Mercury Tracer slams into me

The lady said she didn't see me because she was looking left to see if she had to stop for the yield sign

Rear bumper cover is obviously destroyed, not sure about the bumper itself until they take the cover off but that probably also needs to be replaced. The decklid is also twisted a bit and not aligned properly any more making for ugly gaps and making the trunk difficult to close. Her car was fucked up even more -- there was power steering fluid leaking all over the road (she wanted to drive it home anyway but I convinced her to wait for a truck). Fortunately the other driver's insurance company (allstate) seems to be pretty cooperative so far -- I'm still waiting on them to accept liability and authorize repairs but I think it will be pretty quick, there is no question that the she was at fault.

DC crew... can anyone recommend a good body shop?

Check with jmathew34, xizor, and TSX.Fury. I know each of them has had a car fixed in recent memory so they should be able to recommend something.

And sorry that this happened, man.

Sorry about that. I hope you find a good body shop and her insurance picks up the tab for someting better than a Ford Aspire.

That really sux!!

At least you know who hit your car,
and insurance will cover it

As for me, a week after I bought it, I parked in an indoor garage,
and some ass hit the side of my bumper and didn’t even leave a note or anything.

I was able to punch it back out using a heat gun, but the paint is all chipped up..

Need to get it repainted but I’ll wait till the end of summer, because I’m afraid its going to happen again.

That looks as bad as mine. Mine was hit on Sunday, while I was at a red light. So far the shop quoted me $1500 worth of damage, and Im waiting for her insurance company to approve the repair. If anyone wants pics of mine, I can post them later.

If you want to get the stock one back on.... go back to the dealership for the repair.... since it is paid by the the driver's insurance company anyway.

No and my seatbelt pretensioners didn't fire either. It was a very mild collision and from the back, not front, so the I was pushed back into the seat/headrest rather than the steering column anyway.

I am dropping the car off at D&V auto body (chantilly, va -- highly recommended if you're in the area, Kevin and Ron really know their shit -- thanks Jason and Ben for the recommendation) Monday morning. Allstate (other driver's insurance) is being very cooperative, they will be picking up the tab for the repairs and rental car. Hopefully my car will be like new again soon

I was on the on-ramp from Baron Cameron eastbound onto FFX Pkwy southbound in Reston. You can see the ramp here, it's in the middle of the screen in the shadowed area where the ramps from 606 eastbound and 606 westbound connect.

Sorry to hear about that...did you get the police report? Be careful she could later on saying that it was your fault instead. Got to have the cops there to sign the paper...

I heard the other driver give her story (which agreed with mine 100%) to her insurance agent on the phone, and besides there is absolutely no question that she rear-ended me based on the damage, so I chose not to wait for the police to show up as it is not required in VA. So far allstate has agreed that it was 100% the other driver's fault and accepted liability for the damage, so I would be very surprised to see a reversal now.
